Wait, the new update deletes the gestures :dwillhuh:

That is really fukked up to take away that feature for existing customers. I was still planning to get one with kinect but now it seems utterly pointless.
not pointless. unless they delete the vocal recognition stuff.

Gestures are a cool feature. But how many people use it in the menus? I'll tell you how many.. .Not many. MS knows this thru statistics they have gathered from all of the xbox one users. most people either use the controller or use their voice. The motion stuff was better served for games vs actual menu stuff. especially when you can speak to it. why use my hands when i can just say it. "Goto Timewarner Sports net" And my lakers are own. Why would i gesture to the guide, then gesture down to the exact timewarner channel. when i could just say it with my mouth?

they figured it out and got rid fo it. good for them. Thats how tech is supposed to work. Once the stats come in. switch it up accordingly.

If by chance MS checks the numbers and no one is using voice. guess what. that might be gone too. So its fair. since they are not just doing it on their own. they are using user's statistics to make that change.

I am not surprised tbh. The writing is on the wall for the Kinect, there is no way new features are added to it. Games hardly ever use it either, it's basically a tool to use to turn on your xbox and to change channels watching tv.

I like it for that very reason, but what a fukking mess. This is the reason why Microsoft stumbled out of the gate so bad and it is no longer essential to the gaming console.
why is it a mess? because they tried to be innovative? They tried and failed because the gaming devs wouldnt come along with them. you do realize we've been using games with controllers for decades now right? So that means the devs are behind the curve. not MS. It's on the gaming devs to think of new and non corny ways to use kinect's motion detection and voice.

i've said this many times. there are a number of things i would do if i was a game dev for certain types of games to make very good use of it. But if most of the gamers are couch potatoes that never want to do anything other than press a controller like they have for 40 years. so be it. You can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink. I can't fault MS for trying. And the statistics they have gained from kinect have been used to create other motion detection tech with kinect with pc's. So again, there is no lose there. it's still a win for tech heads and MS overall. its just a shame no one could use their brain to come up with good uses for it in games. shame on the game devs if you ask me. but i know this is a MS bash thread so we will spin it to be shame on ms for not just making a gaming box like all the previous gaming boxes with literally nothing new to it.

lol when in doubt blame the "devs"

microsoft owns their own devs and couldnt do anything worth a damn with kinect in 2 gens. Why should any other dev give a fukk when microsoft didnt?

i'm still blaming the devs. just like i did with the 360. i said from day one. its on the devs to DEVELOP good uses for this new tech. They chose not to. They chose to keep with the same stale controller system that we've had since how long? You tell me. how long have we had this same controller setup? Do you not realize we havent innovated for a very long time and all MS was trying to do is give DEvs room to develop. You want to blame MS devs. blame them too. Fine by me. ALL DEVS are at fault. I give you new tech. figure it out. find ways to make it work for you. Again, i can give you ways right now that would make good use of that tech. You name a type of game and i'll give you what it could have been used for.

Now there's the other component. the players. if the players are stuck in their ways(which they are). then that will hinder the devs. meaning the devs wont jump and create something they keep hearing players cry about they dont want. if players just want old school controllers. thats what the devs will give them. and thats it. so thats on US players too. not on MS for creating NEW tech to Develop with. You should always be glad any company is trying to push the envelope. even if it doesnt work out. if sony did it first. fine by me. i wasnt mad at sony for doing the Wii remote on steriods. sure they bit wii but so what. they were trying to push it a bit further. Dev's and people didnt want it. so it is..what it is.

Nope, it's completely pointless. I kept saying back in 2013 that you don't need some expensive-ass $250+ advanced camera to do voice commands. Most Xbots ignored that fact & really thought Kinect 2.0 voice commands were gonna be special. Now 2 years later in 2015 with all these streaming devices that do voice commands it should be obvious that I was right.
