The Bible is in two parts (for some 3) - The Old and The New Testaments
In the Old Testament God wants humanity to be focused on his love and the love of others.
It is a love that is expressed in honor and respect of God that extends into loving and respecting others.
Loving God is worship.
There are ritualistic acts that must be carried out - but these acts must be done as a tribute of love to God. This worship was asked to be something heartfelt and relational.
In the Old Testament God is never pleased with superficial worship that is not sincere / genuine.
In the Old Testament man tried to please God with ritualistic worship but they could never do it because their hearts were never fully committed.
In the New Testament God decided to come to earth in the person of Jesus to show them true worship of God.
A worship of the heart not just acts - like killing animals and going to the temple.
In other words in the New Testament Jesus came so that God could fully show humans his love for them and to show what worship is about.
In the New Testament Jesus also came to replace traditional ritualistic worship with his death on the cross.
By doing this there would be no more killing of animals - his death on the cross is called a one true sufficient perfect sacrifice.
This is an ultimate act of love because essentially God killed himself to show humans his love for them and to prevent humans from receiving punishment.
The response to this death is to believe in what Jesus did.
The benefit is, according to the New Testament is that humans who believe in what Jesus did on the cross will live forever.
The benefit of living forever is that humanity can forever be with their God.
This whole aforementioned concept is called - Christianity.
Therefore Christianity according to Christians comes from God.
Also remember Christianity believes that Jesus is God.
And again according to Christian doctrine Jesus came to unite man with God.
This not done by doing things but by loving - truly loving the creator / God

"Religion" has come to mean in modern non traditional churches a superficial tokenism and a ritualistic response to God.
Churches that use the term "religion" pejoratively define this modern way of being ritualistic as simply going to church and doing church activities without truly loving God.
Therefore "religion" = a response to God that is only external and insincere.
So when Kurt Franklin says this he most likely means that he wants a deeper relationship with God.
Going to church in this framework is not bad it is only bad when a person's personal worship in church is not sincere.
If he's tired of religion then he's tired of insincerity, superficiality and token tributes to God that never express a true love for God and never get real with God.
