I like the Wiiu, but I find this statement hilariously false for a multitude of reasons. Reasons being is cuz their grand "success" last time wasn't with a console that was even hardly competent, but with a gimmick and everyone and their momma knows this, whereas this time, they have not such a gimmick to exploit or that is ridiculously sought after and the 2 gens prior to that, their console was as competent or even moreso competent in some respects only for them to not succeed anyways (succeed as in equal or better than their comp.). And even still, competent or not, Ninty as a whole should be a lot more 3rd party friendly and just lil less overly dependent on typical ninty titles to carry the load for them. As great as Mario may or may not be, his games alone do not a successful console make. And also, would it kill them to be a bit more competent in the online area as their competitors? And broaden the range of their first party titles a lil bit as well. I ain't saying they gotta kill off their classic titles/characters or totally do away with their bread n butter, but they could still use a bit more variety within that context. I know they've made a few attempts, but they should be doing quite a bit more there regardless. I say all this w/o the slightest bit of hate. If anything, that's the 800 lb. gorilla in their room.
You missed my point. I meant if Nintendo went back to its Snes/N64 roots and made a console that is just as competent powerwise and not any BS limits like storage media or control limits. Basicly have a PS4/X1 level with a nintendo flair would still sell well. What kills them is third party support.

doubtful. Nintendo lost its edge a long time and and have terrible relationships with 3rd parties.

I got your point and responded to that in kind already. Perhaps you missed mine.

In reality, the didn't have the best of relations with 3rd parties back in the days either. Just that the market was much different then and 3rd parties didn't have as much of a choice as ninty was the pioneer of gaming then.

It may start off slow but if Nintendo drops the price of the deluxe to say $250 with a game that'll be a sweet spot that people may flock to. This also takes into account newer games is out by then. This is nothing though as I'm sure this will hit close to 20 million in a few years.(Granted Wii U price drops or comes bundled with maybe NSM3DW.) Knack will probably stall at about 1-3 million worldwide sales.

I don't think anyone actually is giving much credence to this outselling Mario long term, it's just a funny sight to behold and makes a great thread for people to point fingers at. The ONLY thing holding this shyt back is the install base.

I feel you. I havent gotten around to copping this, or a WiiU for that matter, cause of the weak library so far. Once the Zeldas, Smash Bros, Metroids and Mario Karts roll out the numbers will rise. Knack sales are more proximity of PS4 sales at this point
