Knowing this...how realistic do you think the odds of a 17 year old drafted at 13 actually having the leverage to "force" himself anywhere were? Had the deal not already been in place and the Hornets or whoever else REALLY wanted kobe, they would've :rudy: 'd his agent, called their bluff...and that's where he would've played...trust

Lets not act like he ain't have some type of Insight on the nba. If it was already set up he was gonna get traded that just means teams knew before hand. That doesn't mean Kobe had no idea what was gonna happen.

That's one article that seems bias and comes off as Kobe was did wrong, lied to or tricked some how. .

Cowens: “You know what the deal is, right?

Kobe: “Yes, I do.”

Cowens: “Well, that’s good, because we don’t need you anyway.”

Kobe is as stupefied and infuriated now as he was then.

“Can you believe someone would say something like that to a 17-year-old!” he says, his face one-third smile, one-third scowl and one-third sinister. “That really threw me. It really hurt."
:stopitslime: he was really hurt that he was traded to his favorite team that he dictated he be traded to.

Kobe playing y'all. I have found on shred of evidence saying Kobe didn't care were he was drafted.

If you wanna take that article against a page of links saying Kobe didn't want to play for Charlotte then :manny:

:stylin:

so you're just gonna keep tap dancing until you think you've made a sensible point? alright. let's go with your line of thinking though:

getting yourself into a better situation/easier path/whatever semantics you wanna use to win a ring isn't competitive.

so...

were you saying that when rookie kobe pushed his way to the "goat franchise" cuz he knew that would give him a better chance to win? nope.

were you saying that when they got phil? nope.

were you saying that when kobe stayed and played with shaq? nope.

were you saying that when kobe wanted out of la cuz his team sucked? nope.

were you saying that when they got pau? nope.

were you saying that when they got dwight? nope.

were you saying that when they got nash? nope.

look stanley, we both know why you don't sing that tune when kobe benefits from situations that give him a perceived easier path to a ring...so stop trying to act like you're rational and unbiased about this. you kobots do anything to downplay lebron cuz y'all know he's the only guy out there right now that could possibly surpass him.

and don't give me that tired ass "b-b-but lebron went to them" bullshyt. cuz it makes no difference. no matter how it played out they both ended up playing with great players and THAT'S what you're criticizing bron for.

Look fakkit, you basic canadian bytch

Takint a paycut to stack a team is not competitive. Dont quote me again

Its crazy how different history would've been if Kobe went to the Sixers or Clippers. I'm just glad he ended up with the Lakers. Anything beside that Lakers purple and gold would've looked weird.

Damn the articles, I wanna use my common sense...he had no leverage to be calling shots, strong-arming multiple teams, and dictating to front offices who he would or wouldn't play for...coming into the draft there have been countless players with more leverage and clout than a 17 year old Kobe coming straight out of high school who wasn't even a top 10 prospect...Kobe saying "don't draft me...I only want to play for the lakers" would be met with a collective :rudy: from front offices across the league...if a team wanted him, they would have drafted him...he was in no position to "force" himself anywhere

Is Magic Johnson any less of a competitor because he refused to play for any team except the lakers who currently had the best player in the NBA? KAJ?

Lebron did what athletes of generations passed yearned for. Choice. A choice to go somewhere with a chance to win titles. You cats would've clowned him for staying in cleveland and never winning a ring as oppose to taking his future in his own hands and going to another team with a better chance to win.

I don't get the sour grapes here, look at KG, he regretted leaving minny so late, had he went and left earlier, depending on where he went, he could have won more rings

The Decision? :hov:

Do you think LeBron was "deciding" live on ESPN? :scusthov:

It was the announcement. Announcing what he, Wade, Bosh and I'm sure a handful of other people knew since 07. And when they did it, it all made sense.

Melo signed a max contract with the Nuggets, 4 years. Then LeBron shocked everybody by only signing for 3 (with a player option for the 4th). Then Wade and Bosh did the same thing. Back in 2007. After they had played in a couple All-Star games and USA teams together. And all became best friends and shyt.

This is pretty easy stuff to figure out. We know you're a fakkit, but don't tell me you're a dumb fakkit at that.

Dog...I remember posting in sohh along with others at how revolutionary it was for them to sign those three year deals and that these young players today were so much smarter than those from the past.

Magic was drafted by the Lakers with the number 1 pick. :comeon:
He threatened to go back to school if the Bulls got that pick.

Magic Johnson sought elite teammates too - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN

"I'd have stayed in school," he said here Tuesday, standing alone outside Gate 3 1/2 of Chicago Stadium, the house that could have been his. "A coin toss changed the course of my whole life." Chicago called heads in a 1979 coin flip with Los Angeles for the No. 1 pick in the NBA college draft. It came up tails.

Johnson signed with the Lakers after his sophomore year of college and proceeded to win five championships. The Bulls picked second, took UCLA's David Greenwood and have won no championships.

"I wouldn't have played here," Johnson said on the eve of Game 2 of the NBA finals between his team and the team that could have been his. "The only reason I came out was to play with Kareem and the Lakers."

I remember thinking that too. Like LeBron is putting himself in position to own the league like a true boss and look at Wade and Bosh trying to follow his lead.

Didn't know the whole plan though. :whoo: (no pun intended)
