d12 for Josh Smith ZaZA Puchulia... ive said this numerous times..
it works money wise...
works for the lakers.. moves gasol to his natural position C..
D'antoni offonse is focused on the PG/PF positions(look @ Earl Clark for proof)
1. Howard would not sign extension during the season therefore he wants to leave
--> Not 100 % correct, If he signs the extension right now he is only eligible to sign 3 yrs
instead of 5yr(if he chooses to Lakers) or 4 yrs(if he chooses to sign with other team)
therefore even if Howard is traded, he is not going to sign the extension with the team
during the season.
2. Howard S&T options
--> Under NEW CBA RULE, Lakers still can do S&T Howard to other team but there will
not most likly happened. Because 1. opposing team must be under cap
2. Howard would get SAME money and yrs as if he just signs with new team. So If Lakers
S&T Howard to Houston or Dallas, Howard would get same money 4 yrs about 88M.
That is same money Houston or Dallas can sign him outright. So there is no point for
Howard to force S&T unless Howard feels he owes Lakers which I doubt it.
3. Max Money Howard could get is with Lakers 5yrs about 110M
Max money Howard could get with other teams is 4 yrs about 88M.

then there this
Lakers owner says it is no accident they have 2014 cap space | ProBasketballTalk
Right now the
only Lakers contract on the books for that season is Steve Nash at $9.7 million. You can expect Dwight Howard will be added to that list in the neighborhood of $21 million when he re-signs with the team this summer (he could technically leave but I wouldn’t bet on it). That’s a little over
$30 million on the books, which even with the salary cap where it is now would
leave them $28 million to chase free agents. That’s at least one max free agent.
“We purposely ended all contracts that year,” Buss said. “I can’t talk about Kobe (Bryant), but this is what he signed till. So basically we put everything to that, and we want to make a big splash in the free-agent market if we get to that spot. So we designed the contracts and the players and our future all around that….
“Yeah, depending on the free agents that year,” Buss said. “We would basically, money-wise, be able to sign the top free agent – maybe even two. I don’t know the numbers exactly, because we’re not privy to what the cap is and how much room we have, but it’s going to be close to two of the top free agents that year.”
