I get that Gary Payton asked him about his contract, but I think Kobe shouldn't have answered it.
Yeah, his response was reasonable, but I just think it's a no-win situation to discuss the money of it.

LOL @ him saying himself for all the questions.

Gary kinda gave him an out by letting Kobe say himself.
Cuz I would have been really curious to see Kobe say Durant or Lebron

I believe its indirect jabs at the whole Miami team taking less money to win championships.

nah, he needed to answer that

these other dudes aren't as smart or savvy as he is......they needed to hear the truth

these foolish players think that they're taking a stand by taking paycuts to line the pockets of billionaire owners, as if they weren't already underpaid in the first place

kobe is a leader

Yeah but I think taking less money to build a winner is a good idea.

What was lame about the Heat was that these guys all conspired to sign together.
That's a bit different from say...if Kobe was like "I'll take 6M less to add 2 more quality players...and you go find them"

I mean he wanted to be the highest paid player in the game. That's great.
I just think when asked about it, he should have avoided the question.

Fans generally only see the greed so trying to explain things is sort of a lose-lose situation

you can never worry about what stupid people think

the lakers got a 2 billion dollar tv deal off his back and he sells out all their games. from a business perspective they're getting a bargain at 24 mil a season.

like kobe said "the onus isn't on me to help them fill out a roster"

the gm gets paid millions to make the roster work, he needs to do his job.

You play for money it's a job. If you happen to win a championship fine. Like 70% of athletes go broke after 4 years when they retire so why in the hell would anyone play for less money? Haslem turned down 26 million to play for 12 million? You won't be remembered only Lebron and wade will.
