I don't see the cap disappearing so even if players get a bigger cut, I don't know how they'll give players the ability to sign for whatever they want without impacting the team's ability to sign more players. Thats the whole purpose of the cap, so one team doesn't sign all of the best players.

The bigger problem is the Lakers lack of scouting and drafting acumen
kobe needs to understand that everybody has a different value system. not everybody values the money over the ability win and have a stress-free ending to their career. obviously guys like dirk and duncan valued that over a few extra million. that's why dirk and duncan didn't have to be coerced or pressured to make those sacrifices, they did it on their own.
