I don't see the cap disappearing so even if players get a bigger cut, I don't know how they'll give players the ability to sign for whatever they want without impacting the team's ability to sign more players. Thats the whole purpose of the cap, so one team doesn't sign all of the best players.

These owner rely on the fourth estate to do their bidding, shytting on players for not "taking a discount" and the public go right along with them, their resentment a combination of jealousy and seeing nikkas(ers) making all of this money.

fukk public talk radio and newspaper pressure. Get yours

I'm still trying to get someone to explain to me how Kobe's contract hinders the Lakers ability to spend money. There ain't no hard cap in the NBA. The Buss' ain't hurting for money.

"This is a business, and you have to look at individuals and what they generate and the market that they're generating revenue in. And you can't separate those. People have a hard time separating that stuff. From a business perspective, you have to take that stuff into account and you have to try to, as a player, be in situations where it can be a win-win for everybody.

"So did I take a discount? Yeah. Did I take as big a discount as some of you fans would want me to? No. Is it a big enough discount to help us be a contender? Yeah. So what we try to do is be in a situation where they take care of the player and the player takes care of the organization enough to put us in a championship predicament eventually."

Bryant addressed some of the same issues before the start of the season, saying at one point that players "are overpaid but so are the owners."

Why should there be? There are like 5 guys in the entire league who took less so the team could sign more players. The rest did what Kobe did which is sign for as much as they can.

The cap isn't designed to encourage players to play for cheap, it simply limits teams from outspending the others. Guys like Dirk and Duncan are just circumventing the cap. Lakers fans thought he valued winning over everything and would play for cheap but they were wrong.

Out here in my damn drawls
He always seems to bytch out his team mates for sucking ass. Maybe I chose the wrong word. I'll edit it if it makes you feel better.

No, he just demands them to raise their game, play up to their potential and be aggressive. That's what every leader does and that has nothing to do with contracts

You should get paid every penny you can.

And as long as there is a salary cap, you should understand -- In doing so, your team has less money to build the roster around you. It is THEIR job to figure that out, but your contract will contribute.

Get paid. :downwhiteguy:

He's right about getting paid, but he's lying about the lakers being a contender with this current deal. It's the stans who are fukkin idiots, complaining about a bad team. Lakers never intended to put out a competitive squad this year and Kobe knew it.

As far as Kobe, I don't really give a fukk what he says about his contract. If the front office is dumb enough to offer it to him, then :yeshrug:

Duncan's taking paycuts for no reason. Im pretty sure the Spurs are under the cap. Whats he taking a paycut for?? He just knows the Spurs are a small market. They could get talented players with Duncan still making more than he is now but they dont want to pay that much. Thats the real issue. Owners make it seem like the situation is much more dire than it is. Duncan isnt maximizing his gains. Neither is dirk. Lakers it is different. They have the money to pay Kobe what he wants and still have cap space to go and get who they want. Lakers still have room in the cap for a max player and some. It basically boils down to ppl wanting Kobe to take less money just so he an say he took less money:beli:. Wouldnt change the outcome of this season or the next. People are acting like the reason the lakers arent competitive right now is because Kobe didnt take a huge paycut. If thats true how come the lakers still have enough Cap space to still sign a max contract and then some. Money isnt the issue in Lakerland
