so the same shaq that had problems with:

penny
kobe
wade
phil jackson
pat riley
jerry buss

was suddenly gonna back down to jordan, the same one who said his dream team could beat mike's dream team, that shaq?

he's even tryna be an alpha on a fukking studio show, but he's gonna play the background for mike?

as I said, wishful thinking.
You fanboys keep bringing up the problems that Shaq has had with folk like that cancels out all of the success that he had with those people. Shaq had success playing with and being coached by everybody you listed. He would've had even more success with Mike than he had with any of those guys, that's my point. Mike-Shaq win more than 3 in a row because Mike was clearly a better player(in every aspect) than Kobe.

A couple of points....

1. Phil has consistently said that MJ is the better player, however Phil has also said that there are aspects of the game that Kobe was clearly better. As a matter of fact, Phil said that Kobe has better basketball SKILLS than MJ

Phil Jackson compares Jordan and Kobe (2008) - YouTube

2. I think the apples/oranges comparison is missing a lot of nikkas in here - Kobe is saying that if Mike had to play with Shaq that he would be consider the sidekick. And if he played with Scottie, he might be considered the greatest. Their situations dictacted how they were perceived.

3. It seems that people are reading this and coming to the conclusion that Phil is saying that he's not near the player that Mike was and that's just not true. Phil didn't say anything like that, he just said Mike was better.

I agree that Mike is better but the gap between the 2 isn't as big as people want to make it.

I agree with much of what you said however I gotta take issue with the "perception" piece. Phil's analysis wasn't based off perception...it was based off working closely with each man for years. What reasonable person considers Kobe a sidekick? If nikkas didn't go on and on about rings on some lazy shyt the "sidekick" issue never woulda come up.

SMH @ these Stan wars.
When a man that coached both of them and watched them both everyday in their primes says MJ was better, why are you coming up with a bunch of what ifs and buts?

Its not even about reality anymore. nikkas have dug in and are just gonna ride for their side no matter what.

But in general Kobe is right. If Jordan played with Shaq his first 8 years he wouldn't have the same amount of scoring titles,MVP's, finals MVP's, and overall statistics which would change how he's viewed historically. But on the flip side How would Kobe be viewed if he was drafted to a bad team at 18 and on offense be allowed to do whatever he wanted like Iverson/Jordan/Lebron for example?

What seperates Kobe from many of the great players he's compared to is that he's only had his "own" team For 8 years. He became the undiputed leader of his team at 26 years old.

Stats don't mean shyt to me in a lot of cases

I watched Jordan play and see that he's easily better than Kobe
Jordan one championships when Shaq was the young beast in the league, Shaq got swept by the rockets man, he ain't Jordan
if Jordan played with him he would be Jordan's side kick.

People forget that Kobe with Shaq lost to a Detroit Piston's Squad who's best player was Chauncy Billups. Not just lost, but lost handedly.

Prince had Kobe has on lock, embarrassed that nikka

Jordan is the real Prime Time not Sanders, nobody in sports has the box office appeal except for Floyd Mayweather. Jordan was a show, Kobe even when he scored 80 was never electrifying as Jordan.

People don't realize, the reason why the put Jordan over Russel and Wilt, and people who really should be recognized as the best, Jordan was electrifying
he capitivated the audience with his play, nobody has brought that exciting to the game since he left, NOBODY.
Jordan was good enough to come in straight from high school, he's stats would blow Kobe's out of the water if he started at 18 in the league

He's better than Kobe, it's not close to me.

Now Lebron is a different story, and thats only because his size and overall game is on a scale that has never been seen

Why are nikkas acting like that is an ideal or desirable circumstance? :wtf: Are you really suggesting that having the chance to score more points is greater than being on a good team and winning titles? :dwillhuh:. If anything those rings he won early boost how he is viewed historically. You really think Kobe with 35000 pts and a couple more scoring titles and no rings or even just the 2 recent ones would be viewed in a better light? :childplease:

Jordan with shaq would be like Jordan with Kobe.

He would be there lead playmaker, Best defender, and closer. But the offense would still run through shaq especially against washed up centers. Plus we're talking about an 18,19,20 year old Jordan compared to a prime Shaquille oneal.

Do people really think Jordan would win scoring titles next to shaq. This aint pippen:heh: Shaq averaged like 30 a game every year

We're talking about individual achievements like MVP's, Scoring titles. Playing with shaq Hurt kobe in that regard. And you'd be lying if people don't hold Kobe's lack of MVP's against him when comparing him to other greats

Plus it's already proven you can win titles with Bryant as the centerpiece so I don't know what your talking about when you say "no rings". Also Considering he has 2 rings with Pau Gasol who while very good, has never been a Top 10 MVP vote getter, I would say he would've done fine on his own from the jump

please go look at my other post i gave you examples.

stop with the foolishness. TODAY is not really kobe's era to be honest. its the end of it, its LBJ/durant's era. again jordan never had to deal with that because after he won his last tight he retired again and cam back. when he was gone then the new boys came on. his era ended with him retiring. kobe has never retired. kobe is still on par with the top level guys today, whatever era you want to use kobe is in the top tier minus his first couple of seasons when he wasnt even starting since unlike most guys he didnt inherit his own team.

1991, jordan’s first ring
here's is the SG comp jordan played against. these were all playoff teams that year. most of them are way shorter then jordan. all of them except for one is less athletic, some are not even close in athletics. like i said, jordan was lucky to play in that era. and you have to realize. a lot of these dudes were not even putting up the numbers. so he didnt have to chase them around like crazy to shut them down.

Lakers- SG (B.scott / 6’3-athletic)-shorter then mike

Blazers-SG( drex/6’7-athletic) on par with mike(but only could dribble with his right hand. Lol)

Pistons-SG(Dumars/6’3-average athleticism). Shorter then mike and less athletic..mike said this guy was his toughest defender. Really MJ?

Celtics(flabby and sick)-SG- Reggie Lewis (RIP)-6’7, athletic, but not Jordan athletic.- he was in his 3rd year. he’s still a kid while Jordan is all grown up.

Gstate- SG (Mitch Richmon/ 6’5-athletic…but not on par with mike.. more like ray allen in his prime)-only in his 2nd year

Philly – SG (Hersey Hawkins/6’3-average athleticism)- Shorter then mike, less athletic then mike.

UTAH- SG ( Jeff Malone/6’4 average athleticism) –shorter then mike, less athletic then mike.

Atlanta- SG (John Battle/6’2 average athleticism)-wayyyy shorter then mike, less athletic then mike. And no, Jordan did not guard nique, and nique did not guard Jordan.

Pacers-SG (Reggie Miller/6’7 below average athleticism)-frail(super thin,Durant like thin), not as strong as Jordan, not as athletic as mike.

Seatle Super Sonics(RIP)- SG (two guys, Ricky pierce- 6’4 average athleticism=shorter then mike, not as athletic as mike) & Dale Ellis SG- 6’7 way below average athleticism= Jordan was on another planet in the athletics dept vs this guy. They split time down the middle in 91, that’s why I put them both in here.

Knicks- SG(Gerald Wilkins -6-6- above average athleticism, but not on par with Jordan)-very good defender(like tony allen but a hint less athleticism but an inch taller) but not a really big time scorer.- mike had a bit more athleticism then Gerald and didn’t have to really defend Gerald since he was putting up less then 15pp.

Phoenix Suns- SG(Jeff Hornacek-6’3-unathletic)-mike was bigger then jeff in every way, Jordan was on another planet in the athletics dept in comparison to jeff hornacek.

jordan slowed down guys he had a head and shoulders advantage over. the only guy he shut down that was built like him is drexler. and we all know why. drexler literally didnt have a left hand. the guy would dribble with his right, fake a cross over with his right and keep it in the right hand. no matter where he was on the court. he played as if his left hand didnt exist. all you do with a guy like that is shade him and cut that right hand off so he has to go elsewhere. it proves to you how unathletic and small the nba was for drex to kill the nba all those years and no one but mike slow him down. mr one handed. lol. thats cause he was so much bigger, stronger, quicker, jumped higher then everyone else. he could beat them to the spot even if they shaded. he couldnt do that to jordan since jordand was approx his same height, similar build and just as athletic if not more so.

Jordan vs guys like him penny hardway. penny had his normal averages vs mike and the bulls. the truth is thats why they didnt let mike guard penny, pippen did. mike took sorry mr shoot to much but dont make nothing nick anderson. a volume shooter, who was kind of athletic but wasnt a known defender even though he got lucky and stole that ball from jordan wearing the 45 jersey.

i showed you vince and tmac. jordan was never going to shut down guys like him. because the way he shut his opponents down was with his superior size, strength, and athleticism. it wasnt because he played the angles so much better then everyone else.

So show me the cyborgs Kobe played against in say 2009 :steviej::steviej:

Ginobli
Ronnie Brewer
Arron Afflalo
Caron Butler
Sefalosha/Harden
Jerryd Bayless
Paul Pierce
Danny Green
Joe Johnson
Charlie Bell
Kirk Hinrich
Vince Carter
Jason Richardson
Dwyane Wade
Stephen Jackson

There are a couple good and ok defenders on this list, but where are the cyborgs that Kobe is playing against? :whew::whew:

I hate hearing that Jordan was playing against athletically challenged players, when look at this list. There is a lot of trash and defensive liabilities right above you. :heh::heh:@Ginobli, Pierce, Johnson, Wince Carter, Affalo, Harden :dead: being elite cyborgs that would shut down Jordan in his 1991 days.

really the jordan and shaq dynamic would depend on who came to who's team first. If the bulls somehow drafted Shaq in 92 coming to michael's team there's no question Shaq would have taken a backseat to jordan. No queston about that. Now if Jordan came to the lakers at 21 in 97 with Shaq being the 4 year vet then no doubt MJ would have taken a back seat, but still put up numbers. People forget jordan was the 3rd option on the UNC team that won a title his second year. As long as they won rings, jordan would've did whatever it takes.

these nikkas talk so much about athletes today like there has been some sort of evolution form when jordan retired until now of the human species. It's quite funny honestly
