MJ was beasting, he was a league MVP, and he did lead them to the playoffs. Were they serious title contenders? Heck No they weren't, but it doesn't change that michael as a rookie was a top 5 player in the league

you do know the nba only had 23 teams in the 80's right

:snoop:

still 8 teams made it so you had times where under 500 teams made it.

Hell the bucks were 38-44 this year and made the playoffs. Ironically the same record MJ had as a rookie with the bulls making the playoffs.

Bucks were trash too :youngsabo:.....Hence, so were those Bulls teams from 84-89.

I'm not saying Kobe is better than Jordan and I don't even like comparing them cause they played in 2 different eras, but if you are going to compare them, just keep the arguments solid.

Saying what one or the other would do with different teams and what not is purely hypothetical and cannot be proven.

umm the outcome is jordan would've won every year nikka,if an inferior kobe can win a bunch of titles with shaq than the greatest of all time would've had to start putting rings on his toes and shyt

different era, different comp. no zone defense.

jordan played guys at his position who were either smaller, shorter, not as strong, or not as athletic as him. no matter who he played. he always had a PHYSICAL/ GOD GIFTED edge on his opponent on paper before the ball was even tossed up. that would not be the case if he played in KObe's era. everyone is a MJ clone now. durant is virtually 7 feet. lebron is karl malone with handles. i mean let me stop there. or let me start again. Tmac 6'8 long arms, hops out of this world, crazy athletic, mean jumper from all over. Vince carter 6'5 to 6'6. monster hops, silly agility, handles. i mean the man did cross someone up then hammer danced all over a 7 foot full grown man in the olympics. Mjay wasnt playing these dudes at his position back in the good ole days. lets be real. dumars aint dunking over 7 footers, hornacek was cool but he wasnt shaking nobody down with the dribbles then pulling up for a cold jumper like Tmac-pre back issues.

MJAY could over power or out jump out run his opponent. not so with kobe because of the level of comp at his position got better and better and better. (all because of the God father jordan).

:rudy:

so mj wasnt schooling these players as an OLD man on the wizards? He routinely made paul pierce and shawn marion look foolish.

I remember Kobe saying this and he's 100 percent right

"I sacrificed quite a bit in individual numbers and MVPs and NBA Finals [MVPs] and all this other stuff," Bryant said. "Phil [Jackson] used to come to us as a team and let me take over during the march to the Finals. Then in the Finals, which was mostly Eastern Conference teams that didn't have any centers, we went through Shaq. Those are things I was willing to sacrifice. And you have to have that sacrifice if that dynamic’s going to work.

It was inevitable," Bryant said. "You can't expect Michael [Jordan] to play with Wilt [Chamberlain] for his entire career. That's just not going to work. I had too much talent and too much to showcase. And then there was a challenge issued by him about me not being able to win without him. That's a challenge I couldn't pass."-Kobe

where do you guys come from :skip: I hate hearing how Jordan was playing against postal workers and weekend garbage men in the league. Jordan isnt some super negro that came out of nowhere. Ever since the late 60's and 70's, the league has been predominantly black. The best of the best make the NBA and please dont diminish Jordans competition like this era got some cyborgs playing SG.

Are you saying SG's like OJ Mayo, JR Smith, Derozan, Joseph Johnson, Klay Thompson, Iguodala, Redikk, Lance Stephenson etc etc would lock Jordan down? :ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

much tougher = yes not even debateable in the least

you mean the same jordan clones, Jordan went against as a 40 year old man and still lit up?

:snoop::comeon:

he lit them up at what fg%
he lit them up and what was his PPG?
he lit them up and what was his WIN %?

he lit them up on one end. but couldnt guard any of them on the other

stop it.

jordan in his 14th and 15th season at 38 and 39 years of age. he stopped playing at 39.

^old man is getting killed out there. look at his fg%, look at his 3pt%, he's afraid to shoot the 3 ball especially since it isnt moved closer in(his best 3pt shooting year).
now look at tmacs ppg, look at tmacs fg% and 3pt%.

and tmac wasnt even a starter all 8 games he went vs mike.

these are HEAD to HEAD stats from 97 - 2003 when mike hung it up. so some of these games jordan was in chicago with a much better team them tmac's raptors (when he was a 2nd fiddle bench guy with his cousin vince) and tmac's orlando baller days vs flabby and sick wizards Mj.

Old man MIke vs New boy Vince

STOP IT, old man is getting destroyed out there. remember this is mikes last 2 seasons 14th and 15th

they were beasting that old man.

the reason i wont put the kobe vs mike head 2 heads up is because it would be an incorrect comparison unlike the ones above. kobe came in as a backup kid at 17, he didnt inherit his team like tmac did with orlando shortly after being drafted by toronto. or like vince did with the raptors after being drafted. thats so you wont get a kobe that played 15 mins vs mike playing 40. thats not a real comparison.

but lets look at old man kobe in his 16 & 17th season.

vs lebron. since there is no way to pull the stats directly.

just know kobe had one really bad game vs lebron where we all can say LBJ got him, and that was one time this season. bron threw up 39 on him while kobe had a flabby 22. except for that one time. kobe and lebron are basically neck and neck. even in kobe's 17th season while lebron is in his prime as a young guy. thats insane and un heard of. kobe throwing up 35, lebron 24, lbj hits him with 33, kobe goes for 31, so forth and so on. he's step for step with the man. thats Unprecedented. kobe wasnt just outlasting jordan like kareem outlasted all nba players to hold the most points title. kobe was at the same level as these guys scoring wise in his 17th season. the man was the leading scorer at the beginning of the season. then he completely changed his game due to injuries and philosphy .then became the lakers virtual PG.
