a lakers fan talking about parity :russ::camby:

i didn't say the nba will become the mlb. i said i don't want the nba's problems combined with mlb's problems. :wtb:
What problems?

NBA could stand to be more like the MLB competetive wise.

They'll be 8 or so different champs in the last 25 and ppl still holla about the cap creating parity.

Ppl forget these team owners don't take this seriously hence the tanking and cheapness.

Gettin rid of max contracts and the luxury tax, atleast could force them to smarten up.

Location isn't the worst problem any team has.

I understand Kobe's point but the Cap is necessary. :yeshrug:

please tell us why the artificial suppresion of athletes salaries is necessary?

it can't be cause popularity would suffer if only a few teams could win each season. soccer is the most popular sport in the world and it has no salary cap. no one around the world seems to have a problem with Barcelona and Real Madrid playing for the champions league crown every year?

it can't be because a salary cap creates parity. just look at the NBA champions over the last 34 years. Since 1980, only 8 franchises have won a title (Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, Pistons, Rockets, Bulls, Spurs,Mavs, and Heat). with 20 of the 34 titles being won by the just 3 teams (Lakers, Celtics, and Bulls). You would probably find similar results if there was no salary cap.

so please tell me why it is neccesary?

I understand you wanting to argue free market but im just saying real shyt. I dont understand Kobe saying he's underpaid. Especially if we are looking at production .: To me it sounds more like he's saying this because of the criticism over his contract :manny:

there's only been like 8 franchises that have won NBA titles breh. ain't no such thing as parity. its just an illusion created by the cac owners to continue to underpay black athletes. with or without a salary cap, only a few teams ever compete for a title.

I usually don't agree with you but this is 100% truth.

There will never be parity in the NBA regardless of what the salary cap rules are. It's just a pipedream the NBA sells to the fans of perennially losing teams, that they're trying to pass rules to increase "parity" in the league when in reality it's just rules so they can pay the players less.

Whenever the topic of no salary cap comes up people just assume the worst and say "Nah man the Knicks & Lakers will sign everyone if there was no salary cap we can't do that" as if they're the only teams with billionaire owners.

He's underpaid because the money he generates for the Lakers organization is far greater than the 24 million hes getting paid.

He should be making 48 mill this season alone if you wanna keep it funky.
