indeed....do you think players from the 80s-90s would've been hanging out by a bus cause of some shyt that was said on the court?? they would've brought that action right then and there

Melo did in '06 and got suspended for 15 games..he obviously couldnt do that this year man

A couple of things...

A) Up until the last 10-12 yrs or so, economic prosperity was tied into overall individual and especially TEAM performance to a much higher degree. Receiving playoff bonuses actually meant something to players, and being on a winning team raised individual's profile, and had greater capital in securing a long term deal. Now players know that if they put up decent stats, they're in line for huge paydays, regardless of whether their team wins. Im not going to say players dont care now, but they arent fighting for their livelihood w/ every possession like the 80s/90s

B) The NBA is puzzified and controlled after the malice in the palace incident. There's so much scrutiny. Players cant so much as glance at each other the wrong way w/ receiving a 5 game suspension. Kobe knows he's untouchable --- but for the majority of the league, they have to feel like they're constantly walking on egg shells. Look how big of a deal the Melo waiting for KG at the bus issue became. If that was Barkley in 1988 waiting for Laimbeer, nobody would have given a shyt, outside of seeing who was gunna get they ass kicked. NBA is a corporation. Not a league.

Who fukking cares?

As long as they perform on the court it doesn't matter if they are buddy-buddy off of it.

OT/ But from the same article..

"I'm sitting there on the bench, just beside myself, burning with frustration, and I look over and Bill Belichick is walking toward me," Kobe recalled. "I had never met him. Never spoken to him. He had courtside seats across from our bench, and with 20 seconds left in the game, he came over and said, 'Don't you worry about this. I know what you are going through. We just lost a tough one ourselves [to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII]. Just bounce back. Be ready next year.'

"He didn't have to say that. The clock was winding down, we were getting ready to walk off. I thought it was really cool. Respect across our professions."

Since then, Belichick and Bryant habitually have talked shop when Kobe comes to Boston. Last season, Belichick visited the Lakers' locker room and shared some pearls of coaching wisdom.

"He talked to me about how he coaches the game, how he minimizes mistakes, the value of a possession," Kobe reported. "Very interesting topics."

Beli always has these out of left field friendships. Still amuses me that the only way Inside the NFL could get a interview with Beli, was if Barkley did it... :heh:

Are you 12? Niccas would catch beat downs at the bus regularly. Drama queens didn't make it a big deal about it back then. Niccas used to get they ass whipped over money, women, whatever.
