The PS3 is the reason for the console collapse in Japan. Consoles were doing fine in the PS2 generation and the PS3 comes out costing an arm and a leg and Japanese gamers moved on to handhelds and cell phones. The PS2 never had a viable successor.

It pains me to say it but your in the right area. Add to the fact most Japanese developers switched to the Nintendo handheld scene because the cost and complexity of the ps3 hardware. I remember reading an article stating most developers over there didn't even want to go through and trouble themselves even more with porting games over here because they were already losing money.

They ain't lettin go of any of the IPs, but it don't matter... someone will just create a game that is "mgs" but not. shyt's already happened with other IPs


The PS3+the move to HD+chasing western gamers=japan was crippled somewhat for a gen. Their bringing it back now tho...

The PS3 damaged the Japanese console market because of that fukking Cell shyt. That's why developers said fukk it and did more portable games than console games.
