Can’t totally hate on a list that has In A Silent Way in the top 20. But as others have said it’s a pretty basic boomer list with some standard approved rap albums mixed in. That wouldn’t be my top ten but all those albums are great. Kinda weird it’s such an old white guy list but no Rolling Stones in the top ten.

Worth noting Wish You Were Here got mixed reviews when it came out, and it disappointed a lot of people. Yet over the decades it was rightfully recognized as a masterpiece. There are some other albums like that on the list. Worth keeping in mind when you hear someone denigrate a rap album by saying “I was outside in xyz year and that album didn’t get much love.” Who cares. Albums live on and sentiments change.

Nah.. it had substance.. real substance.. not forced ones...maybe you mean the beats were better
Everything was better on tpab, from the melodies to the technical aspects (song structure, sentence structure, the 5 rules of flowing, the rythmic transitions, the instruments, the melodies, the smbd composition, the keys, the performance,... everything)

If you think Alright or King Kunta on TPAB was better than Memory Lane then you deserve a slap to the face.

What is this random list supposed to mean? A lot of great albums are left off.

Illmatic had cracked that discussion
And Low End Theory, De La albums, Miseducation, etc. TPAB is a classic and I love it but people be revising history to pretend like it's the only rap album to be considered a classic that transcends genre. We should be glad that many albums got rap out that box. Looking at that list, imagine being a metal fan and seeing that Master Of Puppets is not just the only metal album on there...it's typically the only metal album that ever gets on a list. That must be a shytty feeling when a bunch of people constantly get together and say "just that one, no more" lol. We don't have to deal with that shyt.
