This part. Not only this but the owners are playing with major league service time which ties into arbitration and free agency. Say in 2 years Murray is major league ready the A's will wait until September to call him up but in his 3rd year will start him in the minors. Once he's called up full time and performs the A's will try to undercut him in arbitration. The money is guaranteed but everything is up to the arbitrator.

I expect a labor stoppage or deep negotiations in the future about the owners playing with service time. There are guys who maybe mlb ready now but stuck in triple a.
This is why I woulda took the baseball route. That shyt is gonna get changed. Either that or Tony Clark is gonna be out of a job.

Is he even a good baseball player?
He's a top 5 prospect in Oakland's system.

That said he hasn't played yet and if he stays with football, his rights will get passed around as a throw-in in every deal.

Russell Wilson technically is a Yankee after being passed around.

This segment just aired on SportsCenter:

Dan Graziano joins SportsCenter to discuss reports that Kyler Murray will declare for the NFL Draft. Graziano makes the point that Murray would have to be taken in the first round to match the 5 million dollar contract he already has from the Oakland A's.

Money wise football is way to go if he is going to be a 1st or 2nd round pic

As a QB, the team that drafts is going to play you early at least by your 2nd year

In MLB you might not even make the pros until year 3 or 4. There are plenty of 1st round pics who stay stuc in Triple A. Theres no guarantee Kyler can hit major league pitching. Even so called 5 tool players flame out quikly.

Say he does make the pros, he wont get to his 2nd contract til his late 20s and only pitchers and power hitters get the big bag

If Murray can even just be a slightly above average QB, he can easily get 15M and more....he probably saw a small QB like Mayfield ball out and thought i can to

Worst case he plays in NFL for 3 years and if it dont work he can do MLB

Baseball money aint a sure thing even tho the contracts are guaranteed

If you have a chance to be a hi level QB, you kinda gotta go for it....CTE be damned

I would stick to baseball but being that he plays qb,m and has a chance of being successful at the next level, he’s in a different kind of quandary where he can make baseball type of money a lot sooner as a good NFL qb compared to waiting several years in the minors in hopes of being called up and still having to wait to get the big check.

Must be nice to have this type of problem

He simply declared. He didnt choose football yet.

It's a weak qb draft. If he gets picked high who knows.

Lol I been knew this. If he wanted to play baseball tbh he wouldn't have even played football this season.

And ya'll talking about baseball money. If he played baseball there's a decent chance he'd be in the minors forever not doing anything:aicmon: Plus, baseball owners are trying to regulate/kill those huge contracts

And he can make WAY more as a superstar NFL QB, and make more than his A's contract as a journeyman backup QB:heh:
