Even if he said “I’m sorry” right away, this would’ve been the same result.

A week after Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving shared a film full of antisemitic rhetoric to his millions of followers on social media, NBA commissioner Adam Silver expressed his disappointment in a statement.
“Kyrie Irving made a reckless decision to post a link to a film containing deeply offensive antisemitic material," Silver said in his statement. "While we appreciate the fact that he agreed to work with the Brooklyn Nets and the Anti-Defamation League to combat antisemitism and other forms of discrimination, I am disappointed that he has not offered an unqualified apology and more specifically denounced the vile and harmful content contained in the film he chose to publicize. I will be meeting with Kyrie in person in the next week to discuss this situation.”
An entire week after posting it, all the while all y'all were prancing about with your pom poms, cheering him on as he took a stand.
You know cotdamn well if he immediately pulled that shyt and offered a sincere apology this would not have even been a thing. It was his defiance which caused the result of this. He made himself look as bad as he possibly could too - he stood his ground on this dumb shyt, even making it heard that he wasn't going to back down on what he believes in, and then still ultimately crumbled.
At the very least if he was going to
stand on his square, he could've come out the other side with whatever dignity he has left in tact. At the very least y'all could still say at the end of this he stood for what he believed in.
But now he's not even a martyr for his own beliefs. He's just a smart dumb nxgga with a toy gun.
