Have you tried to rent a place in cali?

High taxes, high standard of living and the public transportaiton isnt that great

What is wrong with you?

that sounds like a rent issue, not a wage issue.. these home/apartment companies is the real culprit here.. PG&E, Comcast and them too.. Thats what needs to be looked at. The cost of shyt, not the wages.

I don't get this whole "livable wage" for people working bottom row entry level jobs for 15+ yrs.

Someone mentioned strengthening the purchase power of blacks...how about emphasizing education, expanding your skill set, and moving up the ladder. I see no point in paying someone $15 to flip burgers for 7yrs when in that same time span they could've moved up to assistant manager and training to be a gm of their own McD's.

Funny thread.

A lot of you don't understand economics and the forces that makes an economy grow. Raising the minimum wage is never the answer. If you want to help people cross the poverty line, you simply give them money and improve state social welfare. You do not inhibit in any way the profitability of business.

Lol @ dudes really in here trying to fight against capitalism.

America was built on fukking people over.

Never gonna change. Government is never gonna help you. They're gonna tell you they're helping you, while running through your pockets at the same time.

Get with it or get rolled over. Better join this capitalist movement and fight for your piece of the pie

What's crazy is that I just read an article that said 15$ an hour is not a livable wage in ANY neighborhood in LA... So they are still going to struggle either way...

Many economists have presented proof that raising the minimum wage drastically will
Lead to higher unemployment of low skilled workers and teens. So essentially the people we are trying to help might get fukked in the long run. Raising it to something like $15 will raise the demand for he job and the labor pool will just get larger, causing more competition and who loses out? The poor immigrant family with no education or skills in their gene pool...

If an establishment raises their wage floor to $15, you think the people that were willing to work for peanuts are the ones who will benefit? No, the person who was willing to work for $7.50 an hour now has to compete with the workers who absolutely would require atleast a $10 wage floor. Because best believe someone with a college degree who can't get a job, or someone with atleast an American high school education would definitely take $15 to work a shytty job that they wouldn't have did for $7.50.

And which person is the establishment going to hire? Obviously the $10 wage floor worker because they are most likely more skilled.

Now you know what the true hustler that wants to survive does? They do what the Mexican immigrants do in San Fran... They don't go an apply to McDonald's. They buy a grill, find a spot outside of a bar and sell their cooked food to drunk white people :leon:

As a Republican I approve of this…not because of the misinformed reasons liberal Democrats have presented….but over a 7 year period, this increase sounds reasonable.
