No one complains when they go looking for jobs and there is someone willing to pay them more than they're worth or what they expected.

If you want the economy to grow, keep the basic expenses of cost of living low, while keep salaries high in order to have the regular person have more disposable income to keep the economy afloat. That is why Georgia and Texas are to the middle class, while NY and Cali is to the average working person.

its like they never learn from history.. the housing market is rising QUICK in the bay to what it was when it crashed we BARELY getting outta a recession and about to immediately go back into one

since 2008 a lot of houses were $150-400k depending where you wanted to live in the bay and upwards of $500k in the real nice places.

Now the $150k houses are $250-300k, the $250k houses are $350-400k , etc..

It's the same thing in NY, there was a house for sale around here literally across the street from the projects that was $470,000 and it looked like complete shyt ontop of that.


I been looking at prices in North Carolina with the perpetual face for what they get, their mortgages are like $800 a month and shyt for a beautiful townhouse. Meanwhile, up here putting 20% down on even a basic ass house means you gotta come up with $60,000 - $80,000 cash, be stradled with a $1400 mortgage for the next 30 years

LOS ANGELES – City council leaders in the nation’s second-largest city voted Tuesday in favor ofhiking the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

The council voted in favor the measure in a 14-1 preliminary vote. The wage hike must still pass a final vote.

The vote followed months of debate over how quickly the current $9 an hour minimum should rise. It is already slated to go to $10 in January. Under the proposal city council will vote on today, Los Angeles would increase its required wage every year so that its hits $15 by July 2020.

If the plan is approved, Los Angeles would join Seattle, San Francisco and other West Coast cities in raising the minimum wage as part of a national campaign to reduce poverty. There has been an aggressive push nationally, led by labor and community groups such as Raise the Wage Coalition, to increase minimum wages for American workers in industries such as bog box retailers and fast food restaurants.

“It’s very significant,” said Paul Sonn, general counsel at the National Employment Law Project. “Los Angeles represents the $15 minimum wage going mainstream.”

Nothing about kids in that post You said people need to be held accountable and look for better opportunities/create them. How is a person making $9/hr supposed to start their own business? You could hold yourself accountable and still not move beyond your station in life because the system is designed to keep people where they are.

At this point the internet is not a "luxury" it's a necessity in this country, same with a phone, how is that new opportunity going to contact them when every employer asks for your email address and damn near nobody has a home phone anymore?

Keep defending? Yall literally sit here and plot ways for average people to not make it ahead ol crabs. I'm a property owner, I'll be damned if I say, hey, minimum wage workers can't afford apartments so let me just charge 1000 for my unit when I know damn well I can get 1700-1900 for them. Just stop, the cost of living is high because there are a high concentration of high income earners, no, cali and ny aren't friendly to those making 40k, and that sucks, but I also don't expect people to not get what they can from those who are willing and able to pay.
