as well the thing about only cities with these big min wage hike, so you live lik 20 min away in the burbs or another town etc. and your getting like 8 an hour to flip burgers while 20 min away a dude is getting paid 15 to do the same thing
People keep arguing whether raising the wage will raise the prices. How about the worker? Raising minimum wage this much will make it HARDER for the low skilled worker to find get one of these low skill jobs with higher wages and pretty much gives employers other criteria to use in hiring, like race, age, sex, class etc. low skilled workers are getting priced out of the market essentially.
This means that 15 year old Jose will not get the burger flipping job that will keep his non English speaking family afloat because the job went to 22 year old Sarah w/ a liberal arts degree who can't find a job after college and otherwise would live off her parents as opposed to flipping burger. She'll flip burgers now if she can make an entry level salary. Employers are thinking Why pay little Jose the money when I can just pay the educated white one.
It's more complex than your Big Mac rising in price.
There are a lot 20 something's With college degrees, can't get a job, and punching keys on the register at Starbucks, McDonald's, trader joes. Remember the days when grocery store baggers were teenagers? Now it's like 40 years olds doing this shyt... I've seen it. So best believe the if the wage went up, more would be willing to do the job. Raising the wage floor, increased demand for the job, which increases supply of laborers willing to do the job.if we keeping it 100, why would anyone choose a 22 year old cat with a degree, when a 15 year old kid with no job experience can do the same exact job?

I just don't see what proof we have that owners favor teens... But I posted a link in the thread hat showed a lot of teens and low skilled workers will be left out.
We already see what you call "hustling backwards"... Over qualified people are taking low skilled jobs all the time. There isn't any negotiation salary for anyone breh. They don't pay salaries at McDonald's accept for maybe the manager brehHere's my thing.
you're dealing with kids who have no type of leverage when it comes to negotiating salary, or where they're able to work because of their education, age, and economic status..... it's gets no better than that.
Even if you raise the wage floor, you're not gonna see droves of cats hustling backwards just cause fast food and retail jobs are paying more money.

Ehh, you can "negotiate" a wage. McDonald's pays more than minimum wage anyway. Actually it's more about which employee entitles you to the most kickbacks. We already see what you call "hustling backwards"... Over qualified people are taking low skilled jobs all the time. Nobody can go in and negotiate an hourly wage. So it is just choose the smarter person who more than likely works harder, or the kid.
This is happening breh. In fact, tomorrow I am going to walk into the local pizza shop, grocery store, etc and ask the age of every person there. The ages are 20's to fukking 50's![]()

No. McDonald's employees aren't full-time and the stigma attached to fast food would keep me at the other job. Plus I hate the general public.Would you leave a job in that you can only obtain with your college degree, to go work at McDonalds cause it pays $2-3 more?

That would make wages go up in other companies; my job is already talking about it. The companies who want those with college degrees with have to raise there wages or you wouldn't be able to have a good workforce. Your right why would I get a college degree if all jobs paying 15 that makes no sense you think there gonna keep all the other wages the same and just raise minimum hell no. That worker that's making 15 now will command 20 and whose making 20 will command 25 etc. Like I said my job is already talking about it I think Its a good thing should have happened years ago gas out here is 4.05avg min wage is $10 right now so half and hour of work equals a gallon of gas that's absurd. And that's not even going into having experience in the field of your degree.
Real live tho, if they raise the minimum wage to $15...what incentive does the regular joe have to go to college for a degree?
$15 is a lot , but it's not a lot lot. People would still go to trade school and colleges. Some truck drivers, bus drivers, garbage men etc. make like $35 a hr. but people turn their noses at those jobs. It's money outhere but most non degree jobs that cake have undesirable hours and work conditions. And that's not even going into having experience in the field of your degree.
