Umm almost any length of hair should be able to get a sew in weave with the right braid pattern. Doesn't make any sense to cut hair for a weave.

Well my hair is very thick and curly and was pretty long. Even with super skinny braids going straight back and a net it would still look bulky so yes it did make sense for me to get a hair cut before getting a weave.
