The Manning comp fits, in his first 5 years he was 0-3 in the playoffs. Lamar is 1-3...

This Elway comp doesn't work, he was 4-3 in his first 5 years, was 2-0 in the AFCCG, and led the Broncos to their first two Super Bowl appearances. Thru 5 years he was more proven than Lamar, and one thing I'll never fukk with on the Elway dissing, is dude was always a winner...

It took until the end to win The Big One but fam was always a winner...

Lamar doesn't have to win the whole thing, that isn't what I'm saying. Bit he has just one playoff win. He has to at least get to Rd3 this year, no question, and he has to play well...

He's in Y6, if he doesn't win it all this year it's not a big deal, presumably he has plenty of time. It's when you get 10 years in with no championships that it starts looking terrible, as of now he just needs to play well in the playoffs for once...
You had a whole rant on why Elway was 80s Eli/overrated :skip:

And regarding Lamar having plenty of time between you and breh you responded to, that can't be assumed. Cam and Marino say hello. And nah I'm not making comparisons of Lamar the QB to Cam or Dan the QB but just the situation.

Hell KC is in need of a retool but as their top weapon ages, we can't assume they'll get it back right and be the dynasty folks projected.

If the window is open, jump through it. Some would argue the window's been open but squandered with Lamar not finishing his last 2 seasons.

The greats gotta use the Not For Long mantra when hunting banners.

Lamar has won the MVP in the two full seasons he has played and this year the Ravens have dogwalked every supposed tough team in every big matchup..

Baltimore got 2 home games

I can see them beating buffalo and Miami easily in the conference championship

Kansas City and Cleveland are tough ass games because they can keep the game close

Yes we can, Roger Staubach really only had 5 GREAT years. Steve Young only had like 6...

Mahomes is in his 6th year as an elite player, Lamar in his 5th. They've done enough to be worthy of All-Time comparison...

And I'm one of these defense first posters, I LOVE elite defense. I was skeptical of Baltimore's defense earlier on but I'm a believer now. This is notwithstanding the fact that Lamar is the best player on that team...

Winning ~13 games/year annually over a half-decade stretch is some historically elite shyt. The defense could be elite and you miss the playoffs. Great quarterbacks elevate the entire franchise and operation...
But career averages includes your prime and anything else. Therefore it’s not a relevant comparison. We don’t even know if Lamar is in his prime yet.

Other than that, the elite stamp usually comes with the clutch factor as regards winning titles - conference, sb, something. Or else, Dallas would be one of the best teams of the 2ks.

I didn’t know Kurt Warner won two mvps

He was a monster in those Rams years. He’s had one of the most fascinating careers I can think of.
Because Marshall Faulk should have won that year.

Mike Martz was openly campaigning for Kurt Warner that year and getting more TDs despite throwing for 22 interceptions that year.

Warner barely edged out Faulk in voting that year.

Faulk won in 2000 the year before. He scored 5 less TDs in 2001 and missed two games. Warner led the league in completion %, yards, TDs, QB rating & they finished 14-2. It made sense Warner won MVP that season even tho his INT numbers were higher than usual.

Anybody who watched those games knew Marshall Faulk was the best player on the team that year. Which is why the voting was so close despite Warner leading in those areas.

He did miss 2 games and his numbers dropped from his MVP season the year before. I’m not disputing Faulk’s greatness and impact. Just stating why Warner won MVP. It could have gone either way.
