Yeah, I was more skeptical a year or so ago - but that growth spurt came in quick. He's now looking like 6'4-6'5ish out there. He couldn't dunk last year, now he's banging with ease. So as a prospect, when you consider his skill level/shot-making at this age... I actually think he's going to end up as a pretty legit prospect.

Can't speak to how his career is going to be handled, but he has more than enough talent right now. Plus, as I recall, he's young for his class.

nikkas in here really calling Melo a 5 Star prospect Yeah ok brehs. His shot IQ is atrocious, he plays absolutely 0 defense, and he is a toothpick. He’s set in his ways, ain’t no way he’s going to develop into a serious future NBA prospect in 1 1/2 year.

None of them nikkas are going to the league. Gelo could of had a solid college career, he maybe could of signed undrafted for a team. I could see that. But no, his daddy panicked and pulled him out and now there’s a 0% chance of that.

He is a junior just like he should be based on his birthday. He was probably started late originally so he could be old for his grade. When he skipped ahead, he was back to where he was supposed to be.

I don't know if it has changed but the cutoff was Dec 1st when I was in school. So if you were born in December, you're 18 1/2 when you graduate but if you're born the next October, you graduate at 17 1/2 and turn 18 in college. He's where he should be.

Was 15 at the start of jr. year.

It varies by school district but no matter what, you have a one year window for each grade. No matter where you put the deadline, you'll have some people who are close to a year younger than others.

Ike Anigbogu is less than 3 years older than LaMelo and he has already graduated high school, played a year of college, and been drafted. LaMelo is probably younger than at least half the people in his class but he's older than 99% of current sophomores.

I was too. Graduated at 17. There were kids older than me that were a year behind me and not because they stayed back either.

October 30th, I think the Cutoff was in November here, but there was one kid in our grade that had a December b-day, I was the 3rd or 4th youngest person in my class with that one kid in Dec, and everyone else being Halloween or Nov 1st.
