Lance Stephenson About To Surpass James Harden

Forget about Harden.

Lance has better handles, rebounding and playmaking ability than Paul George. And you've already predicted 22 ppg for Lance in the future. Why isnt that a better player than George?

I dont think Lance will surpass George because PG is already one of the best if not 'the' best perimeter defenders in the league and he's an insane athlete. Those are 2 areas Lance will never be able to surpass PG in. Lance is a better rebounder and passer, but scoring wise I dont think he will be able to surpass PG either. With Harden, Lance is already a better defender, passer, rebounder, and athlete. The gap between Lance and Harden is much smaller than that of Lance and PG.

im not saying he's better now, Im saying he could be. I think he 'will' be, but of course i'll give it time before I say that. I think its a fair discussion. And I think its an ironic comparison considering nobody thought Harden would be a top 2 SG, when he was in OKC

Yeah you two are right, my fault for glossing over the posts in this thread and just assuming they were talking about right now. I don't think as a scorer that Harden's game is all that impressive, but it is effective and I think it would be hard for Stephenson to replicate such success unless he becomes a more consistent shooter, but with everything else he shown I think he could be just a valuable as Harden is. His vision and handles are great for a SG( he plays like a psuedo pg), he's big and he's physical, finishes well around the rim; With the number of positive traits he possess he definitely has the potential to be great, but admittedly it's hard to predict where he would be at as a #1 even if he develops more. Gotta remember that Harden was praised for his defense in OKC until he started seeing usage like a #1 in Houston, gotta assume a drop off would happen somewhere in Stephenson game too if he gets to that point.

Really impressive play from Stephenson just a second ago, defensive board in traffic, pushes the ball down the floor and hits a pull-up jumper at the line. It might not seem like much, but your SG grabbing boards like this and being able to push tempo is a major plus.

He's got a lot of potential, and he is the best playmaker on the Pacers, he's been getting a lot of easy shots for Scola.
