i know jay from bk and had a serious crew but it just seems crazy to me that he would risk throwing his whole career away by actually stabbing someone himself in a crowded nightclub for an album release party. especially in '99. he was just coming off his biggest/most successful year yet and was clearly on his way to being a rap superstar. just incredibly bad judgement. i can totally see a nikka like jay sending some goons to poke a nikka but doing it yourself? got damn

Jay was kinda reckless during this era. Jay cracked a nikka over the head with a bottle and had his nikkas jump him about a year before the Lance Un Rivera stabbing.

This is probably the most detail you'll hear about that night, since both Bigface Gary and Chris Gotti were directly involved on some level. Gary as the muscle and Gotti as the getaway.

Klein talked about it a few times. Basically they was at a house party in B-More, got into it, basically it was Klein, Jay and a few other against the whole party, so him and Jay had to shoot their way out of it. Both got charged with attempted murder, Klein had just got acquitted for a murder about 2 months prior, so Jay was gonna take the charge for him but Klein said Jay was at this point trying to rap and working with Kane, so he told Jay don't worry about it, I'll take the charge instead. He said Jay testified on his behalf during the trial.

He ended up blowing trial and got 4 years for the attempted murder but it got overturned, and he ended up pleading out for a fed case and got 25 and did 15 years of that.
