This shyt hits close to home. Spent my childhood in Oakland. Pops even played football at Laney. Bay nikkas are loving this. This shyt is hella bay. Outta towners wouldn't understand. When Thizzle Dance came on:stylin:

Just a couple light points...
  • Coach Beam is a good dude, a know a bunch of people that played for him during Skylines dynasty. When he was forced out Oakland lost a dominate football program. Played against him while I was in H.S.
  • Didnt like that they focused so much on a rivalry with City College of SF when the real rivalry is with Chabot(the team they beat in the final game). Both are the big East Bay program's and you either go to Laney or Chabot. You will have a lot of east bay high schools with players from both which intensifies the rivalry.
  • People watching these wouldn't really understand that theres a huge difference in outta state JUCOs like in Kansas and Mississippi. The Big 12 and SEC uses a few programs as 'holds' or 'buffers' to prep kids or rehabilitate them for their programs which is why you would see wayyyy bigger players and former D1 athletes. You dont get that at Cali Jucos for the most part. They serve as a post high school 'continuation' for the most part for kids that weren't quite good enough to get scholarships then. That's why you'll see smaller players and teams with just about 15 kids good enough to play D1 or D2 ball on the entire roster. The Pac12 doesn't feed the Cali Jucos like the south

why did he get forced out?

Have you been watching? Dior, RJ, and Nu(sp?) have some fukked up stories. And now the next episode begins with more depressing shyt about Ray.

At least we got a few shots of Sakai looking thick :francis:

Only up to episode 4 or 5 so far.

RJ...fake Cole Beasley...he had a weird upbringing. Dude needs to get away from his family and work on route running. He is an athlete playing receiver but lacks elite physical skills to overcome his low football IQ.

Dior is dat dude. He's not a QB at all but he's a gotdamn football player. He should get a scholly somewhere. Probably end up returning kicks/punts and being a slot guy. Quicker than fast but he's pretty fast. His pops is a nut.

Rej is probably the one dude that I wouldn't be shocked to see get drafted into the NFL. Confidence is good for a QB but his mouth could get him into a lot of shyt. He's VERY VERY lucky that his coach is Coach Beam. Imagine a player like Rej under Coach Buddy? Coach Davern Williams would have had to make him roll up and down the field all day after pissing off Buddy. Brown would just called him a "skinny fat fukk slapdikk " and told him to wax his Caddy.

Nu'u.....he could get a scholarship and make it but lacks drive. Dude has 2 kids plus a wife that goes to school AND works yet he wants to plagiarize a gotdamn rough draft. He's not even that dumb based on the grades they showed in episode 1 or 2. Compared to some of those EMCC kids that could barely put a sentence together.......

Coach Beam....definitely the best coach we've seen of the 3 schools. Sorta feel like he's a big fish in a small pond and he likes it that way. Those Samoans and Tongans were VERY uncomfortable when he interrupted their meeting. There's some underlying shyt there that got glossed over.

Also....compared to the EMCC and Independence kids, the ones here don't seem "poor."

Rej family lives pretty well....now at least.

Dior looks like he grew up financially comfortable but had a psycho dad.

RJs family is well to do but they are all rapey/pedophile alcoholics.

Nu'u and his girl would probably be OK but 2 kids costs $$$. Otherwise they'd look middle class.

EMCC/Independence had straight up broke people while this season has people with really weird home situations.

I was posting in the wrong thread :snoop:

I just finished this season. I really enjoyed it. They should've been showcasing a coach like John Beam since the beginning. This dude comes across as what a JUCO coach should be. I'm really pulling for Dior to make it in D1 or the NFL. Nu got a real one for a wife too.

The stadium for most of Laney's games seemed empty. I guess the charm of JUCO football in the midwest/south is that these small communities rally around the football program. That seemed to be the only thing missing this season.

I watched it in one sitting, wasn’t bad. It was probably the worst season but still entertaining. The coach was a nice guy and the players got along. Barely off the field stuff and when those dudes got suspended and kicked off the team. They didn’t go into detail about it.

This shyt is flames so far :wow:

If you're from Northern California and have either played or been around the CA Community College Football Scene , you'll appreciate it a whole lot better .

No shyt they're not as good as the previous two teams cause they don't have scholarship players .

I fukks with the coach . I just finished episode 5 . They touch on a lot of parts of Oakland and SF . Especially with The City vs The Town segment. 100% accurate. I didn’t know he was the Skyline High School Football coach for years . I know a lot of brehs of mine know him.

:pachaha: @ them Scrimmaging against Sac City (my Alma Mater) and playing at American River (where I ran x/c and track) . Brought back some old memories.

CCSF used to be EMCC before EMCC.
Back in the late 90’s a lot of folks from the area I was raised on the Tennessee/Kentucky border went to CCSF to play football. I remember those same dudes ended up playing at SEC and Big 10 schools after they went there.
