And you are obsessed with me.

Think about that, if i`m the loser you claim that I am and you dedicate time of your life trying to get at me, what does that say about you?

I love you so much

Why dont ya'll consider Poughkeepsie upstate? I go there pretty often and I always refer to it as upstate.
I don't. To me upstate starts the county north of me.

Albany is more upstate (and even that's debatable). It's an hour and a half from the city, and I can just jump on metro north and go right down there. One can commute from here to NYC easily.

Plus we're still in NYC's media market, so we have the same channels that ya'll get (which is why we get the Jets & Giants, not the wackass Bills).

It just doesn't feel upstate to me. it's a wack city, but not upstate.

Some of them even refer to Rockland as Upstate lol.

It doesn't matter, it's wrong IMO. This coming from somebody who is originally from NYC.

To me, anything above where I live is Upstate

Rockland, Westchester, Orange, Putnam, and Dutchess are all suburbs that are built up alot.

Once you get past Dutchess/Orange county, you start to get into the boondocks. Farms and bigtime hick towns. Its pretty much like that till you reach Albany. And once you get north of Albany, the rest of NY up until Buffalo is a whole lot of nothing.

:ohhh:

To be fair, what you say makes sense. Its far as hell from the city, but not really that much removed form the city if that makes sense. You got your fair share of rednecks up there though. Trips people out when they find out hillbillies arent just in the south :heh:

No love for Ulster county?

I agree once you start going towards Greene County and Sullivan County, that's a different look entirely.

I say the Catskills are the upstate point, but since so many refer to my area as upstate, it's whatever

You go into some areas like Sullivan County and that's some real fukking rednecks, that shyt aint no joke.

Then you go further up, forget about it, it's just country music stations the whole way.

Nah, Ulster county is Upstate to me. I been to Kingston, New Paltz, Saugerties, Marlborogh. Definitely an upstate feel to it.

Greene and Sullivan are so country, its not even funny.

Even parts of Dutchess county are so different. The southwest quadrant of Dutchess, from Hyde Park down to Beacon and eastward to the Taconic is pretty much all built up in many places. Outside of that, there's a lot less. In Clinton Corners or Amenia, you wouldn't even know you're in the same county as Poughkeepsie. Rhinebeck and Poughkeepsie are about 20 minutes apart, yet they are really a world apart. You can walk around downtown Rhinebeck and see all the mom and pop type stores/restaurants and get that feel of a small town. You walk around downtown Poughkeepsie... and its a totally different feeling lol.

Your logic is kinda off though, you really can't call Ulster County upstate and then say Orange County isn't.

I guess you mean just the type of towns comprising the counties, so I see what you are saying.

Orange County is built up alot (Newburgh, Middletown, Port Jervis) and is closer to NYC. Metro North is serviced in Orange.

Ulster is closer to Albany and has more of an Upstate feel to it than Orange.

Just my opinion though
