Not in the streaming era. This is the quick hit era. You put out your single, put out a solid project of streamable music to hopefully make a few playlists and then tour soon after in a small venue with hopes of getting a festival bag
It's the opposite, cause back in the days if your shyt had replay value. It wasn't necessarily so that more people would buy it, it would just be so that the ones that bought it kept on playing it.

In this streaming era, dudes that you hear about doing less than 100k end up moving platinum like lil tjay, even double platinum like moneybagg yo and polo g. Why is that? Cause people keep on streaming their shyt and they get play by the play.

All these people end up going platinum or at least deep into gold if their shyt has some replay value.

Latto is actually pretty talented, but because of her looks the label pretty much typecast her as another run of the mil whore rapper when there's already 400 other bytches in that same lane. Nothing about her music is special.

The album was a decent first effort for Latto. It wasn't the no skip masterpiece I saw some hyping it up to be on socials but decent enough. It showcased her potential and had a few bops on there. I knew her 1st week wasn't gonna be crazy because even with Big Energy high on Billboard it's mostly from radio not any organic streaming movement.

She's still finding her way and cultivating her fan base and that's okay.

This the reality of a lot of acts rn I got connections inside not sayin nothing else but let's jus say a lot of ya don't realize these acts are a gamble off rip by labels especially nowadays fact my mans told me producers get they contracts renewed off rip even before the artist drop they shyt that's tell me them labels ain't confident in they artist either
Another layer for her also is apparently she is the only rap act signed to a label that specializes in pushing RnB acts. She said she did it on purpose because that means they will probably treat her good. Curious see how they go about the post album release and the next one.

That's also why they started doing them short ass songs too :hhh:

was anyone expecting her to do numbers?!

Maybe her label. They shelled out the money for that Tom Tom Club sample, Dr Luke production and a Mariah feature for a deluxe. I don't think that female rap fans had any real expectations on her sales, especially not like they would have for Meg or Cardi.

Is that really a flop??

In the grand scheme of things, who the hell is Latto? :heh:

I'm surprised she did that much.
Only reason I knew she had an album is because she was accusing Kodak of trying to get p*ssy for a feature.
Yea, they blew the budget on that big energy song.

That’s not bad for a female rapper

She ain’t Cardi, Nicki, or even Meg what y’all expect
