Lauryn Hill Unplugged is literally one of the most lyrical albums ever recorded. People act like it doesn't exist. This is how I know that most people don't care about lyricism at all.

The Unplugged album was something I enjoyed, but I can understand if some people had a problem with it. Every song had a similar rhythm and she strummed the same chords in almost every song .

She doesn't live off of past glory. She didn't stop in 98, it's 20 years later and she's still headlining major events this year.

Was she talented? Yes but overrated. There was a lot of mythological hype that surrounded her after her solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn....

1 classic album and then little to nothing afterwards, aside from that bizarre Unplugged album/concert (tho it was a a few really good songs on here)

Wyclef was the real talent in the group. After The Fugees broke up, he went on to put out his own great and nowadays underrated album, The Carnival and a few other good albums. He wrote and produced big hits for a who's who of artists (Destiny's, Child, Carlos Santana and The Product G&B, City High, Mary J, Shakira etc)

Lauryn became more of a myth than anything with her 1 classic album. She was great in The Fugees (best mc obviously,) but as a solo act? Overrated.

She's become more of a legend for her tardiness to her concerts and her self imposed exile from music on and off again over the last almost 20 years then she has for her music. What year did The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill come out again? 98'. Yeah, exactly.

Lauren was revolutionary because to this date no other artist raps as good as they sing. as Lauren was as vocalist, she wasn't just holding a note, she could actually sing and her lyrical talent matched.

her one album won 4 Grammy's. at that time no one was making that kind of music "neo-soul" she pushed that whole movement forward giving birth to artist like Alicia keys

that album literally has no skip songs. your favorite Beyonce album never won album of the year, even the acclaimed lemonade, was not on the level of the "mis-education" album.

matter of fact when I went to a Beyonce concert guess who's song he sung live "x-factor" by Lauren Hill, that should tell you all you need to know.

I would compare her to gale Sayers or barry sanders, one of the greatest running backs of all tikme but only played 9 or 10 season but doesn' have all the records, but everybody knows berry was one of best.

Latifah does not have the musical talent of Lauren Hill. She's cool. But there is a reason the only song people remember is U-N-I-T-Y.
