Actually in recent years, even with the decrease in album sales and the 360s, artists seem to have learned from some of the mistakes that they were making in the 90s. Artists nowadays, especially in Hip Hop seem to be much better prepared for the cut throat business environment of the record industry.
I'm not saying 360 deals are this great thing but just trying to shine a light on the opposite spectrum of signing such a deal. It's not ALL bad. These guys are still managing to make a lot of money and in some instances a 360 can even help that.
Haha a whole bunch of smart dumb nikkas in this thread
Homie posts a video from 2009 talking about the music industry n thinks he dropping gems.
Deals rappers are getting now >>> Deals rappers were getting in the 90s.
Ask Dr.Dre, Dj Quik , Pac, Ice Cube n em about signing deals
Creativity wise, they already took off that shyt a long time ago, all new gen artists have almost complete creative control. If you really know how the game go, you would know that signing to a major nowadays is more safer than signing to a indie label. As a rapper imo, you should either go Major or do it ya self. No inbetweens. Causing indie labels rape a artist way harder than a major do.
Google The Cool Kids and peep how they have been struggling and suing their old indie label for the past half a decade for freedom out their contract.
Actually PAC had a decent deal, Suge just didn't pay up or sent cars instead.
^^^Finally someone with some sense on here.

I feel u..I just feel the industry now especially for a major..theres less room for artistry..too much business..amd the risks are way higher...
That's true but that's why it's called the Music BUSINESS... these artists who sign (Lupe) act like they didn't know what they were getting themselves into...
It is a business but thats no excuse for the bullshyt...if u make money off what u do of course its business but u as an artist should have more say with the music and art u put out...there should be WAY more of an artistic compromise for an artist than it is...cause these nikkas is already screwing u on the money side of things...
Not disagreeing with you I'm just saying that since it's a business there should be no surprise at the lack of control during situations...
You also gotta realize that sometimes these a$$holes are correct. Atlantic let Lupe do whatever he wanted & after 2 albums that didn't total a million copies & the "Nothing On You" fiasco they put Lupe in the studio with a proven hitmaker & hand picked producers to help him with his 3rd Album... and it went platinum...
So at the end of the day while a bunch of underground heads are upset at Lupe's 3rd Album the suits in the office know a million people bought it & it generated millions of dollars...
You see what I'm saying?
Puttin out albums like his 3rd album can fukk alotta shyt up in my opinion...cause it can fukk ur initial fan base over and u dont want that...I would rather have an artist to go gold every time with a set fanbase than to go platinum once and drop off the earth cause it was done with disposable fans...that nothing on you situation was an insult cause Lupe proved he can write hits before that and not only did they try to force a song on him..they didnt even wanna pay him for the shyt...they tried to play him...
I thought a 360 deal included an xbox 360![]()
