I was watching business news the other day and they were implying that the Fed wants layoffs to occur, to assist with bringing down inflation.

I'm not a business or economics major btw.

:hubie:
That is exactly what they want. They said it. The Fed is useless so raising rates and hoping for layoffs are thr only tools they will use to fix their mistakes. Trump did not help and Biden as well.

They want mush higher unemployment. They’re also kinda fukked because US dollar is losing strength too as other countries basically say “fukk you”. Also oil is going up. It will be harder to contain inflation so we will see more rate hikes and more layoffs. Can’t hide this shyt.

Accenture is laying off 20k people and McDonalds is laying off thousands from the corporate offices
The tech layoffs were just the canary in the mine since they overhired during covid to begin with

Yep. Tech been going ham with layoffs for almost a year now. Other sectors will feel the pain and you will see more people take notice. It ain’t just hitting the rich tech workers. It’s hitting the every day worker.

This is exactly it. Inflation is still too high so the Fed is gonna jack up rates till everyone has to start layoffs. With no job, people will be forced to cut back consumption, which will decrease demand and bring down prices.

Even though the supply chain is a big cause of inflation, the fed doesn’t have a tool to fix that. They just have the brute force raise interest rates strategy.

There’s also been a lot of quiet layoffs that’s don’t make the news.

I work for a large company and they laid off some directors, from every department I know of. It’s been crickets. shyt isn’t in the news. We can’t be the only ones doing this.

The sentiment in the air is that restructuring is coming.

All the wrong people got stimulus checks. Production coming to a snails pace, and increased spending is never good.

I know what was up when I heard McKinsey was looking into some shyt at the company.

They’re legit hired to push some bs stats that suggest a company needs to let people go. But they’ll take the blame for the recommendation. So the company can have plausible deniability.

It’s funny my director mentioned McKinsey was looking into some audits, then a couple weeks later she was let go.

If y’all get word that McKinsey is being hired by your company then buckle up:

Companies Keep the lower paid employees, but bob in marketing, Susan in sales , and Timothy in IT manager making 80-100k a year and good bonuses and benefits we have to let go and they just make mike and Becky in other departments cover those areas and reduce hours and production..,

Might be different times but the same story from 10,20, 30 years ago
