efficiency > raw scoring
primitive offenses vs primitive defenses is much more evenly matched than elite offenses vs average defenses
The defense today isn't average, especially not compared to previous eras.
The issue is that defense needs to evolve to cope with the PF now being a floor spacer, which opens up the floor for everyone. I think the Bucks are going to be the team of the future in terms of defending.
Sure it is, its far less equipped to defend the pace and space offenses today than any defense in any other era was equipped to handle the offenses of their era.
