they didn't guard the 3pt line because that wasn't how the game was played then. Why guard something that a team shot 1 or 2 times a game then. Obviously they would adjust now, jut like teams today going back then would adjust. It's all about era's and when you played

You can find a similar offensive rating in the supposed "greatest" defensive eras ever, and in relation to pace this year doesn't even come close to the 2009-2010 season in which ya man Kobe won a title where the league pace was 92.7 yet teams scored 107.6ppp, did they not play defense then
