In his 15th season was Jordan dominating like this? LeBron can basically take a mediocre team with an average coach and by just being on it that's an almost automatic ticket to the NBA finals and at least a chance at a championship. Jordan played for some of the greatest teams in NBA history.
They had 2 different career paths so it’s silly to compare them season for season. It would be more accurate to do a comparison by age. Lebron is 33 and is the consensus best player in the league. At 33 mike was still best player in the league too. I’d say that mike was even more dominant over the league back then because had the good fortune of having a great team around him on top of being the best individual player.
At one point you take Jordan off his team in 1994 and they still make the EC semis. You take LeBron off the Cavs in 2011 and they go from the EC semis losing to the NBA champs to not even making the playoffs till he comes back where they lose in the finals to one of the better teams of NBA history.
Basically unplug Jordan from some of his teams he was on and they could have still been successful. Unplug LeBron from some of those Cavs teams he was on and they can't even make the playoffs.
Jordan's greatness isn't up for debate but he benefited from things LeBron just didn't have most of his career. Even this team LeBron has now is questionable and he's had to put them on his back to go this far.
I agree with all of this, but none of it supports a claim that Lebron is better than Mike. All you’ve done here is prove that Mike played on better teams than Lebron has.
I think that you’ve got some dates mixed up because Lebron wasn’t on the Cavs in 2011. I think I get your overall point that those Cavs teams were heavily dependent on Lebron, clearly moreso than the Bulls were on Mike. However, circumstances aside a 25 year old 1988 Mike was clearly better than the 25 year old Lebron that lost to the Celtics his last year during the first run with Cleveland. By 25 Mike’s midrange game was cash money and he was arguably the best defender in the league.
The midrange jumper and defense is what separates mike from Lebron imo. We’re just now seeing Lebron show the consistency in his midrange game that mike had throughout his prime and even beyond. I’ve actually never seen Lebron get to the same level as mike as far as defense.
Mike would be even better in this era than he was in his own. It would be downright unfair.
