LeBron James and Anthony Davis have expressed growing concern that the Lakers roster is not good enough and feel like changes need to be made

There contenders that got worse supportin casts past they top 2 than Reaves, Rui, Christie, Dorian, Vando, Knecht, Hayes....

The hard truth is Bron can't be a number 1 on a contender anymore and probably not even number 2. nikkas will point to his boxscore 23, 9, 8 whatever but that don't capture the story Bron one of the worst defenders in the league. He don't even play no defense no more shyt is wild. He just stands there, doesn't get back transition, doesn't rotate, guard his man. He just a statue out there his impact is that of a 3rd option at best in 2025.

Most team don't got a 3rd guy as good as Reaves. If Bron was still in his prime nothin would be said bout this supportin cast. Its just he not a top 15 player no more. AD still a borderline top 5 player but Bron top 15-20 range at best. He not a good enough number 2 unless they got another superstar top 10 type of player.

Only way they can be a legit contender wit level of Bron now is if they got another top 10, top 15 level player like Steph :russ:

nikkas signed those contracts wit quickness knowin they wouldn't have same roster flexibility. You can't cry bout roster moves when it's all ya fault. Ain't never seen Tim Duncan complain bout rosters cause that nikka always took mad paycuts to have best teams they could. That should be a part of legacy talks honestly or at least when you havin start a franchise wit talks.
Ok, then name them

What serious contenders..

OKC? Nope
Dallas? Nope
Celtics? Nope
Cavs? Nope

Name the group. Cause currently the Lakers have one of the worst benches of any potential playoff team

Lebron isn’t asked to be the #1. He was barely the #1 in 2020. He’s been the #2 for awhile now, and helped lead a randomly put together trade deadline cast to the WCF

This narrative that you have to have a certain “top x” standing of a #2 is thinking in the past.

The current modern NBA doesn’t think that way, and winning rosters aren’t constructed that way

It’s about putting a cohesive team together from players 3-8. It’s how Denver won their ring, it’s why the Celtics steamrolled to their ring, it’s why the Cavs/OKC are some of the best teams in the NBA

Players are too good now to just team up with 3 max level guys and win a bunch of games and a ring (See PHX who have 3 of those and 2 of them make more than Bron). It’s always how you can tell who’s a casual who doesn’t know or follow the current way the NBA is going/has gone

But even with all that PHX acknowledges that AND STILL went out and got Nick Richard’s, who would instantly be the Lakers best front court pickup since Dwight

Bron is a clown for this. And he dragging AD with him. If I were the Lakers, I’d trade AD to wherever he wants to go, re-up on the first rounds, and stare LeBron down. Hopefully he asks to get out, if not then he’s stuck until he retires.

There is nothing to be had so what are these clowns even talking about? Zach is probably too rich for you plus he’s not fixing your issues. Jonas Valančiūnas is probably the best Rob can do. Does he move the needle enough? You not getting the Nets boys. Jimmy ain’t it. Grant shooting fell off.

Trade AD and force LeBum’s hand.
:camby:
AD to Houston for picks and whichever young boys they would throw to them. Any combo of Tate, Eason, Smith, Whitmore, Sengun, Thompson and fillers. Would Houston even entertain getting AD?

He should've taken a paycut on his last contract so they'd have some extra cap room for some pieces. :manny:

Can't choose the money and not play every game and expect to win
He did.. he took a pay cut so the Lakers could stay below the 2nd apron cause Rob doesn’t know how contracts worked and fukd up on player options

He was willing to take a bigger pay cut, but Rob struck out on EVERYONE in free agency

He has a player option next year. So he can opt out at the end of this year and leave for nothing

Walker Kessler, Sexton, and Bruce Brown in a 3 team trade is the best Rob can probably do

I like the way you think. A center, scoring, ball handling, Brown getting minutes this year? I haven’t heard his name since the Raptors. He was bag chasing when be could be winning rings with the Nuggets.

Rob would have give up protections on the 1st round picks, and it'd only work if the Raptors are high on Rui and 2nd round picks like has been speculated

Gives the Lakers a massive front court and probably the best rim protection in the NBA, a scoring guard off the bench, and a starting caliber SG who can send Max to the bench unit.. all while keeping Reaves and having Vando/DFS as your perimeter defenders

Not a perfect team, but one who is def in that 2nd tier in the West besides OKC

That’s a lot they don’t need all of that. They need poeltl or Kessler and maybe a guard

Would be an incredible trade if they could pull that off with only giving up like Rui as a real player
