Youre hearing a lot of people stress the impact of cheating because the Comissioner basically said "hey its bad but its not that bad... Its just the world series after all" and publicly dismissed the effect that cheating has. The players vocally are stressing that this shyt is wrong because the commissioner ISNT by passing out wrist slaps. If they dont speak up and force action, then nothings stopping this shyt from happening again...

Except of course them themselves just not cheating. You had guys from other teams come in and fall right in line and all these guys bytching and moaning would have done the same. You see everybody is bithcing about what they lost or hypotheically lost, no one is saying "man if that happened on my team I would throw my trophy away". I do agree that higher ups need to come down hard on things if they want to elminate them, but if they don't to me that sounds like an invite to get it how you live .

From what I understand it's okay for players on the field to see them and signal them, but coaches, etc. off the field watching them through video and using technology to relay them is the no-no. That's why that shyt with the buzzer was also a big deal.

For someone who's not the biggest baseball fan, what happened with the Houston Astros and how did they cheat?

They used a camera in center field to read the signs the catchers were giving the pitcher about which pitch to throw next, then signaling their batter to know what pitch to expect.


It's kinda expected that teams will steal signs when they can, but the league has been more and more strict about declaring that they aren't allowed to use technology to steal signs and aren't allowed to use technology to communicate information to players during the game. The MLB had been extremely clear about that and started fining teams and shyt and the Astros went ahead and blatantly violated the rules anyway.

They used the live feed from the center field camera to a monitor that was outside the dug out. After they got the signs down they would bang a trash can to signal an off-speed pitch was coming.

And from my understanding, wasn't there some controversy over Altuve's shirt during that homerun? People think there may have been an electronic device tagged on the inside sending him pitch signals, and that's the reason he didn't want his teammates to rip his shirt when he got to home plate. He gave some lame excuse about his wife. Has that theory been confirmed/debunked
