The real money is in TV deals. TV deals aren't as lucrative overseas because most countries don't have the amount of excess income and credit that America and UK have to buy stuff. When the audience has less money to spend, companies spend less money on ads. This is why the 10 most valuable sports franchises in the world are all American teams.

Those franchises are all wealthy yes, but locked up tight..their staggering wealth now makes the prospect of any new prospective investor getting in on the action nearly impossible.

Even worse, the US audience is generally conservative about sports so will not be receptive to any new sports or leagues.
It's a tough market to be able to try to even sell to..hence his shareholding in a foreign football club. He wants to build his own post playing empire and legacy and knows it's not happening at home anytime soon.

NFL has the talent and the ratings, but college football is a better product on screen…. Gambling and Fantasy Football puts the NFL over the top…

Americans don't fuq with Euros in American leagues so they definitely wont watch a new league in a foreign country. Saudi owned LIV Golf is getting lower ratings than Tiger Woods playing indoor golf in TGL.
