Stop it. Tim guarded Shaq plenty of times

So I guess you don't understand me saying robinson was the defacto big man /center defender and duncan was the backup defacto big man / center defender?

No more different than saying pip was the defacto wing defender and MJ was the backup defacto wing defender.

This means that Robinson and Pip were the primary defenders.

What was false:dwillhuh:

Like TD wasn't spending his prime playing and winning titles with Jerome Kersey, Steve Kerr, Mario Elie, Kevin Willis, Steve Smith, Terry Porter, Glenn Robinson, Tony Massenburg:martin:

Antonio Daniels:hhh:

Tony, Manu, Rasho Nesterovic, Oberto aren't foreign players?:usure:

He came into a team that had won 60 plus games the year before Robinson got hurt and those foreigners also happen to be hall of famers

Those Robinson led teams were good but always underperformed in the playoffs. All the time. Fools gold regular season wins.
And Robinson was never the same after his injuries. It was clear that he lost a step. Duncan never got to play with prime Drob.

Sean Elliott also lost a step by the time Duncan came in. He was basically a role player.

Everyone forgets that Duncan was an MVP candidate his rookie year. All NBA first team also.

Not denying anything you said but Robinson was still a 20 and 10 player despite playing with a 20 and 10 player, now what Tim did in 03 was some otherworldly shyt and one of the greatest basketball displays of all time absolute dominance on both sides of the ball and led a slightly above average cast to the title

The answer is Bron. Duncan would've been great anywhere he went, but you guys are crazy if you think that he didn't benefit tremendously from having a Superstar Center and Great Coach from the getgo. On top of these perks that LeBron HAS NEVER had the luxury of acquiring, Duncan had an amazing front office and scouting Department that ALWAYS got steals in the later stages of the draft.

Just the sheer fact that Duncan managed to continuously get to the finals in an era where Kobe, Chris Webber and countless other talents reigned is a testament to how good his squads were. For fukks sake, LeBron is lucky(or unlucky depending on your stance) that he even got to the Finals in 07' with that garbage ass squad and it took a weak conference to get that done.

Then nikkas bring up titles, but don't realize the trash squads that Duncan faced in those Finals. That heat team in 2014 was just bad. Wade looked like he was about to retire that year and the whole team was one of the oldest teams in the league(older than the spurs actually:pachaha:). Bron was the only one that showed up in that series.

Still got Tim over Bron but it's close. Unlike with Mike, one series may actually push Bron over the top.

Prime Timothy though :wow: Beating Kobe/Shaq twice with your best teammate being a young TP or a flabby Sean Elliot or D. Rob is one of the most underrated feats in recent history. As great as the FO was, I still say they dropped the ball by not at least trying to get a Vince or T-Mac or even Pierce in there during that time.

Duncan did his thing in 2003 but he had a stacked team for each of the other championships he has won.

The NBA 1999 wasn't that competitive anyway. All the teams were either too young or too old

Kobe was 20 years old in 1999 tho :francis: and the 2003 Lakers team lost their mojo a bit.

And which one of the players on the Spurs in 1999, other than Duncan obviously, was better than Kobe? Parker was the same age in 03. The 03 Lakers win a 4th title in a row if it wasn't for Timothy. The Mavs and the Nets had nothing for them.

in 1999, david robinson Is a more valuable player than Kobe.

the Lakers would have won if they reached the Finals in 03 but beating the Mavericks or Kings before Dirk and Webber went down? I don't think so.
