No, it's because China is trying to use that murder (which wasn't even committed in China or Hong Kong) as an excuse to destroy one of the most important agreements keeping Hong Kong residents reasonably free. Kill the extradition law and they ain't just going to extradite murderers, they're going to get anyone they want, even if they have to cook up false charges to make it happen.
