Huh... No.

Protests were initially about the extradition law and now they turn into autonomy/democracy protests.

The only one painting it as autonomy is the CCP.

The protests were about extradition bill originally yes, but since they've been onging, there has been police violence against protestors and now that is an element of it as well.

"Police brutality has been a core grievance for Hong Kong’s protesters, whose fury has been sustained by a regular barrage of social media clips showing officers carrying out violent arrests. Now a new investigation by Amnesty International claims the situation could be even uglier behind closed doors, accusing police of committing assaults in custody that amount to torture."

This confirms what I thought :yeshrug:
Alot of these dudes making a killing over there and Morey destroyed it with one tweet
I mean DWade makes all his money in China especially now he's retired
Rondo still has a Chinese shoe deal over there and probably lost cash on that trip
LBJ is protecting all of that and he's taking the hit because no one else in the league can
He went after Morey because he's Management and is responsible for potentially killing this revenue stream for the players

For those of you criticizing LeBron what would you have said?

Man, I wonder what OJ Simpson would have said if this situation was going on in the 1980s.

Wtf are you even saying?

nobody in this thread is talking about Lebron “being the leader of hong kong”, we’re saying Lebron needs to shut the fukk up about shyt he has no business being involved in.

Hong Kong is literally fighting oppression right now from mainland china. Mainland china has been in the shyts with Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, and whoever else on that side of the world. Morey was correct with his statement, even though he probably should’ve shut tf up too. But he wasn’t wrong... Lebron is and this shyt makes him look stupid af because he’s saying the GM is uneducated but if you actually know wtf is going on over there, its Lebron who is uneducated.

What did Bron say that was wrong? All he said was Morey wasn’t educated on the situation and since the backlash from his initial tweet Morey has backtracked his statement and admitted his self he was uneducated on the subject

I recommend you guys read the article. It seems like LBJ decided to speak so that every other player wouldn't have to. Morey put players in an impossible situation. Guys have already lost millions of dollars. Maybe guys like LBJ can withstand speaking out against China. But what about the non-stars? What about the bench warmers? The average NBA athlete runs out of money several years after they finish playing. How can those guys be asked to speak out? Maybe I read the article wrong, but LBJ from my perspective LBJ decided to take the flack so that no other player would have to. You can say that he's siding with money or whatever and he is. But the real truth is that LBJ doesn't need the money. He already has a ton. What he's really doing is siding with the guys in the NBA who don't have it made and can't withstand a media battle with the Chinese government. In essence, LBJ fell on his sword and is now getting shytted on so that every other NBA player can just go about their business and make money. Heavy is the head that where's the crown.

LBJ could have easily stayed silent and let this issue brew and foment. Instead he decided to be the lightning rod and take all the hits. LeBron is worth 450 million. He could be a billionaire with or without China. So saying this is about the money for him is silly. What's it really about is the NBA Brotherhood and looking out for the fellow NBA players who only have a small amount of time to play in the NBA and make as much money as possible to support their family. The saddest thing of all is that all these guys are doing is what every other business that works with China is doing. Only that now they are getting shytted on because they spend a lot of time advocating for the Black community while everyone else just keeps their mouth shut.

Everything he fukking said was wrong. HE’S the one not educated on the situation. He should’ve not said shyt... he says Morey is uneducated and then says he doesn’t have enough info on the subject to comment... but Morey is the uneducated one?

and that makes sense to you because it’s lebron:gucci:

Shams mentioned a player that lost a one million dollar deal with a Chinese company due to Morey's tweet. I can't really fault any of these players/coaches for being reluctant to speak because any misstep can fukk their colleagues out of a lot of money.

Police brutality is not the reason behind the protests. Of course, people are going to be mad at how the police react in those situations. But it's not the reason. Not in the beginning, not now.

The CCP is the one painting it as a fight for autonomy and democracy, it's Hong-Kong protesters themselves. Hong Kong protesters don't want to be fully integrated into China. And they saw the bill as the first step toward that goal. That's why they are protesting. The grievance about police brutality came after the start of the protests.
