Kobe’s “second fiddle” rings were more earned and way more impactful than Bron’s super team rings as “the number 1” and all KDs rings as “1a/1b” to Steph. These nikkas hate competition.

The ridiculous part about it is they’re criticizing ring culture and how players are devalued when they spent the last 15 years devaluing Kobe for not getting the Finals MVP before :dead: the nerve of these nikkas :dead: Gilbert started his argument calling Kobe a “passenger” then expects us to care about LeBron being criticized when he just did the same thing.

According to them, rings only matter if you’re the Finals MVP. Shaq got them, fine but post-Shaq, Kobe went to three championships and won two. Shaq did NOTHING using those same rules. Why didn’t he start another dynasty as the main guy? Kobe's three rings (2000, 2001, 2002) gets discarded but for some reason, we’re supposed to care about Shaq’s ring in 2006.

The historical revisionism nikkas try to do for Frobe and early Kobe is NASTY. When he was "2nd fiddle" Shaq was callin em the greatest in the world and he was bein regularly compared to MIKE not Scottie. Fact that Gil the one that said this is insane his brain been fried from readin too many these Gen Z hoops takes online it distorted reality for em

Ring culture is stupid af how many time Jordan get outta the first round without a top 30 player of all time? How many times did Kobe get outta of the first round without pau and shaq. That’s literally all they have to say to shut down this stupid argument winning a ring is a team effort

Ring culture stupid but media and fans shytted on Kobe for 4 years for not having a ring without Shaq. Won 2 back to back then changed the rules saying he had Pau too.

Ring culture is a problem when certain players have a lot them:mjlol:

You know how badly I want to root for and support the idea of SAS? I want nothing more than to champion this nikka as one of the GOATs in black culture, all necessary pauses and other nonsense if need be. Seen clips of him and his daughter on the socials. Beautiful shyt. But then this nikka talks and I'm like :unimpressed:

Yeah ..this isn’t football or soccer . In basketball one man has the ability to influence the game way more than any other team sport .

The ring argument separates GREATS and even thing a ring doesn’t just automatically catapult you over those that do not . Malone is still viewed higher than Dirk and Giannis .

AD has a ring and I’m not sure if it elevated him at all .

Lebron ,Mac, Gil know what they doing .

Yes he was.
This was 1989.

:camby:

He was considered the GOAT before winning a ship. Yall dudes are overrating the questioning.

We all had no problem giving that title before winning a chip.

People appreciated greatness regardless of rings. Its why his pre ring 63 vs the Celtics was beloved. Im old enough to know a time before this bullshyt ring culture crap. People simply appreciated greatness regardless of hardware. Folks actually appreciated players.

Ring culture came post MJ.

You posted a MJ hater talking about countless examples, but there's literally plenty of sports analysts from back then that questioned if he could ever get it done. MJ had enormous pressure to win as he was seen as always coming up short.

He was right. All he said was there's levels to greatness and the rings are what separate greats from GOATS. Those clowns got in their feelings because they all underachieved and this hit too close to home.
