they freaked out cause we got him for Kwame Brown. if we had to give up Odom, there wouldn't have been a freakout. it woulda been seen as a lateral move. nikkas freaked out cause they knew kobe only needed one and a half good players with him to start winning chips. and he proved it when we got gasol for nothing.

We freaked out because this trade accomplished 2 things;

1. Swung titles and robbed us of some classic boston/spurs finals

2. Saved Kobe's legacy and gave him a chance to win a ring(s) as the best player on the team. We didn't want kobe to get another dominant big man because we knew what was going to be happening in June.

Because that's how the NBA markets their product. Casual fans in football, root for teams. Casual fans in baseball, root for Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs or Dodgers. In basketball, it's all about superstars
