2018 was the movie script for us but the "No Call" happened and I argued down how that no call will affect Brees and Payton's legacy. Non Saints fans don't care, and why should they-it's not their team, but that no call will forever cloud Payton and Brees.

i remember that :deadrose:

damn you were right. that could've been a great ending :wow:

Gifted doesn’t necessarily mean best all time. Brady’s longevity is something to marvel at.

Dude has been blessed with top Olines and defenses his whole career. Only time i see him run for his life was vs those Giants team and Tom looked like a scrub

His ability to get it out of his hands and his feel for the pocket can’t be understated. He’s never had to run, but he’s been good at not giving the defense an opportunity. Most QB’s need solid OLine play to succeed. When he had solid OLine play, he only won 6 Super Bowls and made it to the conference championship in both conferences. Yeah he benefited, but once you win 6 titles and have success with another franchise, at some point your skill level has to be accounted for. In another world, Brady on another team without the beli system or without an OLine, probably is good enough still get 1 ring, under the right circumstances. Which would put him right in that Rodgers, Brees echelon.

Biased opinion as a Saints fan: Top 5 all time, help turn the Saints from a joke franchise to the super bowl and annual playoff team. One of the top passers ever which is impressive considering that he's barely 6 feet.

Unbiased opinion: Top 10ish, choked a number of chances to get back to the super bowl with teams that were excellent on defense, owes me at least 2000 on bets he lost for me over the years. Sean Payton deserves credit for his success also.

As a fellow Saints fan, you should know better than to EVER bet on them.

Too much fukkery ingrained within them :damn:

Yall saying this knowing damn well if the Bucs beat the Packers nikkas gonna shyt on Rodgers Sunday:mjlol:

Freaking Bron gets shytted on and he has 4 rings. Yall really don't grasp how fans are when it comes to these 'debates'. No one ever said nuanced discussion is required.

Depends on how he loses. If he looks like he did last time they played he will be rightfully shytted on, if he loses in a shootout or plays a clean game you won't hear that.

this is a great saints squad. yall too loyal to brees, but honestly he should've retired 4 years ago. yall wasted some great prime years of your nice skilled players.

I feel ya.

Their front office straight wasted that man's career :laff:

Those "7-9 Purgatory" years with the :trash: drafts :snoop:

By the time we managed to get out of it, it was lowkey too late, and he was on the downside of his career (which explains the recent postseason failures). :snoop:

My problem with people arguing Brees being “top 5 all time” is that there was never one season where he was the undisputed Best QB in the league. He’s the 4th best QB of his own era, so how can he be top 5 all time?

Yeah he definitely isn't Top 5 All-Time. Its a hard sell keeping him out of Top 10, though. He's possibly the most accurate QB ever, who in his prime was a machine gunner. I disagree with people calling him a stat padder---->most of those early Saints teams (06-15 or so) had shytty defenses around him, and at barely 6' he was asked to carry that squad annually, and he did it fearlessly...

He wasn't a stat padder, he had some awful defensive support. He's easily a Top 10 GOAT...

HOF QB
Choker
A notch below Peyton
Top 10ish

I dont know that I'd agree with choker, either. His arm dissolved into a fukking noodle in last quarter '18, the way Manning's did in 4Q '14---->both were having MVP caliber seasons and "the cliff" slammed the fukk out of them both outta nowhere...

Once his arm left him in late '18, he was never yhe same. He still had some strong moments here abd there, but he was never consistently great again in his last 2.25 seasons. And its these last few seasons people use to call him a choker, but its age more than anything else. Young Brees was a machine gunner and a certified baller...

First ballot HOF
Top 10 all time
Was never quite Brady Manning level (maybe Rodgers too but if Rodgers doesn't get in the Super Bowl this season the casuals will start to "turn" on him too)

He should be good with his legacy. He's got one ring at least. :yeshrug:

The separation between Rodgers and Brees isn't great---->Rodgers is better and proved it over the length of their careers but people are acting like there weren't years Brees wasnt arguably the best QB in football and MVP. '09 and '11 jump out particularly, he was every bit as good as Peyton and Rodgers those years...

Brees deserved an MVP and this shytting on him for never having won one is ridiculous; the pretending he never was on par with Rodgers is wack too! Again, I think the duration of both careers has proven Rodgers as better, but most people think '11 was peak Rodgers, abd Brees was insane that year also...

Rodgers is comparable to Manning in many ways, but thats a different thread. He's kind of in the midpoint between Manning and Brees, but i do acknowledge winning another ring while still playing at an elite level brings him about even to Manning. Losing another NFC title game doesn't, and it doesn't matter how they lose it, it doesn't hurt his standing next to Brees regardless, but this dude is way too talented to be a loser in 4 of 5 NFC Championships. He can't be hurt in relation to Brees, but his elevation to any higher level is hurt immensely...

There is not a major gap between Rodgers and Brees...

Probably the most overrated QB ive seen

he owes everything to Sean Peyton

Saints should’ve moved on a couple years ago

they wasted some championship caliber rosters on him the last couple seasons

Moved on to who? We'll see Payton's value when he has full seasons without Brees upcoming...

I dont see how Rodgers is in the Brady-Manning tier, but not Brees. Honestly, Brady may be in his own tier. Depeding on how we judge QB's.

You ain't wrong----->Rodgers is not close to Brady and is only just now approaching Manning. I will gladly debate Rodgers and Manning in a separate thread, the best he can do this year is draw even with Manning...

Granted, guys are playing longer now, and he's only in Y13 as a starter, so hypothetically it is not at all outta the realm of possibility he passes Manning definitively with a few more elite years. But we're talking right now, he is not Manning's equal yet and can't pass him this year regardless of outcome...

i don't think big ben is a better QB, BUT that came to my mind immediately. big ben definitely the one next to him as far as #4/5

I got Phillip Rivers not far behind them too, but obviously he is missing the ring.

Ben is def the #5 QB of his era, only guy with an argument would be Wilson if we're going full post-2000. I have a Ben legacy thread waiting too coming soon, he deserves a lot more flowers than this board gives him...

Hes behind Brees but not by much...

like i said brady is in a whole new tier, but i get your point.

What brees needed was 1 more great run. too bad his arm got shot. all he needed was 1 more. i mean he didn't even have to win the ring. all he had to do is get there and just play well enough.

this is a great saints squad. yall too loyal to brees, but honestly he should've retired 4 years ago. yall wasted some great prime years of your nice skilled players.

Brees has been ready to retire. When the Saints got good again 4 years ago, he saw a SB window and only stayed to win it again. If they got it in '17, he woulda retired then. Ditto for '18 or '19. He didn't stay to pad stats, thats for sure...

At his height he played the position as well as anybody, performed well in the playoffs too.

Saints just wasted a lot of his better years with some of the worst defenses we’ve ever seen and they held on too long at the tail end of his career when they’ve most likely have had the best team in the league for the past 3 or so years
