that was the most frustrating thing about him as a coach for me... We had stud rookies that took too damn long to see the field, Xavier Rhodes and Patterson being the main guys... He just isn't good at making those type of decisions...
I'm not gonna put it all on him due to one drunken run in with Jerome Simpson. It's hearsay, but it seems legit. One of my buddies was talking to him out at a bar (a week before he got that DUI
) and he asked him what the deal was with the team and it might have been some of that liquid courage but he said the whole team wanted Cassell to start but the front office was pushing Ponder on them. It doesn't seem like Frazier wanted anything to do with Freeman either since he already had 2 QB's who weren't great so adding another one didn't make any sense.This all falls on Spielman now. This is the last coach who can be blamed for the failure of these teams. We have talent but when we're saddled with one of the worst 5 QB's in the league, you're already taking yourself out of serious championship contention. I think he drafts well but missing on the Ponder set this team back by 3 years and Frazier unfortunately was the fall guy.
