My fukcin marriage fell victim to this. I was paying the mortgage but after that I was almost tapped out. She made more than me and was always wanting to travel. She took me on a couple of nice azz trips but ultimately she wanted someone who could take her on a nice azz trip. My everyday grinding wasn't enough to keep her attention.

I think she was just very short sighted. The love affair and the dream wedding was all she could see early on. Life just happened to us after a few years of day by day living. I am sure she imagined she could love me making $30K and her making $80K but eventually I just didn't fit in with the jet set.

5 years or so on I got me a much better JO and could afford some of the extras I couldn't back then.. I guess she couldn't see that far ahead.

Mind you: I am just extrapolating. She told me that she wasn't excited about us anymore. I told her that that's the natural result of knowing someone so well. They can't surprise you. I don't think she'll ever be happy just finding somewhere to sit still, but she don't understand that "it" isn't "out there" so she keeps searching.

Man, I don't care what any man, woman or child says about this. Any man that gets with a woman who makes substantially more than him is putting himself on thin ice. A big part of the game is having resources and tangibles.

And by substantial, I mean $25K or more. Yea, $5-10K isn't to much more in terms of salary. Even $15K can be excusable depending on occupation. Because it only breaks down to a few hundred extra after taxes. But when you start getting into the $20K range and up, then that's a couple stacks difference in take home every month. A couple stacks is the difference bewteen living in Section 8 housing and living in a downtown loft overlooking the river.

If a woman is rocking the pants when it comes to the finances over an extended period of time, then she is going to wane in her respect for her dude. No matter what. It's like the law of gravity....it's inevitable and all encompassing.

The only caveat being if dude is working on an idea that may take some time to get off the ground but will be substantial in the future. Or if dude works in a field where the money is low but the impact and prestige is high i.e. politics, religion.

It's good that you moved up, but it's even better that you got out of that relationship. When the respect starts to go away, that's when the f#ckery begins. And the lower the respect, the higher the f#ckery.
