he's a clone and i'm fukking tired of artists like that. be yourself and stop being a carbon copy of other artists. corny style of dress. exaggerated thug stories. the whole presentation screams "Do-It-Yourself kit for making it into the music industry!"
i didn't like his album, but at least schoolboy q is original. he has his own swag and i respect that.
Gates is the last rapper I'd call a "carbon copy of other artists" the dude has a totally unique style and raps about shyt in a way that no one else in his lane would dream of attempting. I mean find me another gangsta/street rapper who would do a love song rapping from the perspective of a character from fukking Twilight and make it not only credible but also consistent with his own mic persona

i'm not just into the dude's swag and presentation, which makes it difficult for me to appreciate his music. i also get tired of these artists making videos showing how much weight they're cooking and chopping up. the shyt just screams
to me. and he may have been heavy in those streets, but that's not the point. his music just seems forced and unoriginal.i feel like a lot of dudes are trying to bite off ross, yet they don't even pay attention to what ross raps about or how he delivers that aura. call him a CO or whatever, but ross doesn't come across as corny and his schtick appears legit at times because it's not forced and it isn't exaggerated. his swag is untouchable and a lot of cats try to mimic it and fail. kevin gates is a perfect example, imo.
but no hate to gates. i respect his grind. just not fukking with his music at all.
