every region brought in garbage....
the rap game has artist from all over the us with no actual skill.
it is not just the south.

art barr
yeah, i know. i just never sat back and thought how many had actually come from the south, during that time period. the worst part was, it all came when they were finally getting their shine. i really shouldn't blame it on the south as a whole, cause from what i've noticed, all of that fukkin garbage has emerged from atlanta. there hasn't been many respectable acts to come from there, at all. i think it's like 3 altogether.

I wouldn't say it ended in 2010, we're still in the dark ages b

trap music, catchy hooks and beats are still more important than lyrics and lyricist amongst todays listeners

Neeguh, whats so bad about catchy hooks?

The only reason I am back to listening to hip hop is because of...

1) Roc Marciano dropping "Marcberg" I love this album...Bumped it for 3 months straight after getting exposed to it....

2) Waka Flocka Flame, I chose to ignored the Lyrical Lames and other critics, and downloaded "Flockavelli" Loved the album for what it was...

3) Chief Keef, GBE and the Chicago Drill Music movement...Ignorance at its purest form...Just honest music from people who came up from nothing...

It was RIDICULOUS in Atlanta during that time period bruh. It was really like the dark ages for simply being black at all in the city. I honestly thought it was something in the water because nikkas turned into straight c00ns before my eyes. It was like one of those viral diseases from 28 Days Later, nikkas outta nowhere was jumping up shouting "YUUUUUUU
LLLLLEEEE" like that shyt was the freshest song ever. That was THE year I completely stopped listening to the radio. c00nery took over the world...

I was so goddamn happy that Nas dropped Hip Hop Is Dead I brought that album three times and was giving it out to certain friends like "LISTEN nikka:pacspit:" listen to some REAL shyt. Nas, Common, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco were the saving graces of that era, along with underground classics like Blu & Exile's Below The Heavens...
Learn to take some music for what it is and stop being uptight. Oddly enough, the clubs in Atlanta were poppin the most during that time. What's wrong with dimes shaking their "laffy taffy"? I wouldn't bump that sh1t in the whip or at home but I knew that type of music had its place and I enjoyed it, in that place.

I'm sorry but I'm just not feeling "Swimming Pools" in the club and women just standing there swaying from side to side singing along.

Bruh did you LIVE in Atlanta during that time period? I'm not just talking about dime pieces shaking their ass in the club. I'm talking about dumb nikkas literally walking around acting like modern day souljah boy clones in every day life. You'd be in the mall chillin and a gang of back youths literally running up and down th ailes yelling "YUUUUUULLLLLLEEE" Like they didn't have any goddamn common sense. I'm talking about nikkas wearing skinny jeans and white tees to JOB interviews. I'm talking about conversing with these inviduals and their entire scope of language included three words "Shawty" "Get it Poppin" and "YUUUUUUUULLLLLEEEE". You see it's not just that the music was cub music or radio jingles. The shyt started infecting the minds of the black youth like a fukking plague, as the music got progressively dumber, ignorant, and c00nish so too did all these kids who already are impressionable. shyt was absolutely revolting, ain't no problem when it's confined to clubs and such but it WASN'T just confined to that.

fukk the ringtone/snap era. Evey single artist from Nas to Ghostface Killah to Game who rightfully cloned that bullshyt got a :salute: from me

the snap era was the absolute worse, wasn't that 05ish? 05-2009 was the worst for me. i think in 09 the new guys like cole & drake emerged you could see slowly the game was changing to be more caring for the artform era out of the ''im just a hustla'' careless for the artform era but that was before i knew what a hipster was. the emphasis on artists making art is almost purely pretentious, and thus still substanceless generic trash. hiphop is still not good tho it is better than the mid-late 2000's tho for sure & moving toward improvement, i'm not a fan but it's definitely a good thing j coles & kendricks are standard b level artists right now, they never would've been in the xxxl t era.

The Snap Era was trash. Luckily it was short.

just because something is made for the clubs, it doesn't automatically mean that its good.

and I like shawty lo, but that chit was trash.

what the hell IS a laffy taffy supposed to represent anyway? 8 years later and its never been explained. laffy taffys have no comparable features to any female bodyparts.

I'd say more 2003-2008

yall taking it too far back now. 2003 was the last memorable year. '04-06 were hit-or-miss, but I would kill to get those years back at this point.

I respect what @Art Barr is saying about '97. I agree from a cultural and shady business standpoint. those years were still great musically tho.

If you don't like Fabo, Maceo or Oomp Camp, you're dead inside.
