It was looking extremely bleek:scusthov: At that time I was :eat: up all the underground Hip-

Hop stuff (Duck Down releases, Blu, and Fashawn), and threw radio in the bushes for good:ahh: But then there was this hipster shift in the underground that made me

Then I just turned back to old 90s classics, until new classics started dropping again :blessed:

You contradicted yourself.

2004-06 had 50 cent ,banks, Dipset, Kanye nd Jay. i think mos def was dropping some music.

Common's BE dropped still bangs to this. Lots of soulfull music dropped The shinning,Late registration,Be,Mos defs albums.

Yeezy,Timbo, Neptune, Just blaze and polow da don running productions lots of dope music dropped but the streets were fed.

2007 was when the trouble began

I've been saying this for the longest, when the economy crashed, all we had was Wayne making his push with all those mixtapes.

I was so goddamn happy that Nas dropped Hip Hop Is Dead I brought that album three times and was giving it out to certain friends like "LISTEN nikka:pacspit:" listen to some REAL shyt.

that was a weak album tho.

very disappointing.

Co-sign. As bad as 2007-2010 was, I will still take that period over 2011-2014 (yep, I'm predicting the future).

yep. that's what im saying.

truth be told, i'd actually be happy if we get a year like 2007 again. i mean, it was a weak year, but it was better than whats going on now.

All excellent top quality albums. Hell of you throw in albums from 2011 like Undun, The Dreamer, The Believer, Elmatic, Camp and Take Care you've got two years that shyt ALL OVER the ringtone and snap music era
R.A.P. Music was great.
F &L 2 was weak to me.

Nope

Todays theirs actually Fresh talent Kendrick, whole TDE camp, Joey baddas, Good music, Asap, all dropping some good music and others step their game up
Their was none of this in 07-10

Breh it was a very dissappointing Era. I do not own a single CD from 07-10 xcept MBDTF. I dont think i listened to much hiphop. It was the Great Depression ERA of hiphop. Them Ol'heads must have been on the verge of sucicide

all those types of artist who make that type of music have been consistently active since 1996.
the problem is, most of you dudes are gateway fans and did not know to look for that type of music.

rap has been in the dark ages since 1996, and full since 1997.

so all the talk of the 2000's was this or that, is all from people who really are not that fluent in rap.

lol 07 Wayne alone is enough to make this thread silly and Kanye

NY cats making threads like this but slob for biters like Ferg and Rocky

A song is suppose to be a song first and foremost, love lyricism but with modern production, it's harder being dense lyrically and making something melodic

They may have been dark times for you, but there was some real heat out there in that period:

Jay Z- American Gangster
Common- Finding Forever
Ghostface- Big Doe Rehab
Lupe- The Cool
Talib Kweli- Eardrum
UGK- Underground Kingz
Pharoahe Monch- Desire
Scarface- Made
Styles P.- Super Gangsta, Extraordinary Gentelman
Kanye- Graduation
Jeezy- The Recession
Nas- Untitled
T.I.- Paper Trail
Rick Ross- Deeper Than Rap
Kid Cudi- Man on the Moon
Raekwon- Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II
Big Boi- Sir Lucious Left Foot
Kanye- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
The Roots- How I Got Over
Distant Relatives
Reflection Eternal- Revolutions Per Minute
Rick Ross- Teflon Don

The weakest years were '08 and '09

08 was not that bad better than 07 tbh .... Lupe's music was still a bump in 08' , TIP was dropping heat , Game was dropping heat , Jeezy was dropping heat and that year Cudi came out and we got the infamous " Untitled ( nikka ) " ..... I can tolerate 06-10 because those were when TI was in his prime dude was ruling shyt at the time :salute:... I think even Three SIX Mafia was dropping music at the time too tbh ( does not mean it was any good lol )

bullshyt......

all those albums other than mike's record are some shyt I heard before like sunshine Anderson just came back out.
or, a complete let down, that is trumped up because the critics and guys like you have no frame of real reference when it comes to rap music.
most of you dudes commenting about 2007-2010, just never diversified your listening and stayed to onesided.
plus, never actually listened and were not really ingrained in rap from earlier years.

rap releases have been the same as far as quality for a long time now.
as a matter of fact, this year and last year were far more boring than any recent time in memory.

the production has nuffin to do with the lack of actual technical skills this gen of rappers have.
mostly all these nikkaz, are impressionist, or standard g-unit youngbuck lyricism at best, with a good twista/bone/project blowed bitten flow to go along with it.
the rappers nowadays are some I only listened to what was platinum from jay/nas/dre/bone back in the day and are some biter based toys who know nuffin about emcee'n, whatsoever.
