98/99 was weak?

It's Dark And Hell Is Hot : good record, after defjam bait and switch marketing for get at me dog.
Capital Punishment : good record, delayed by two years
N.O.R.E : not really good at all
Flesh Of My Flesh : good follow up.
Don Cartegena : awful
Hard Knock Life : spotty
Pieces Of A Man : spotty, and had little hiccups trying to adjust to the change of sonic landscape
Aquemini : good record
SSLP : not as good as the ep
I Am : wack
Murda Muzik : good record
Chronic 2001 : good record
Vol 3 : mentioned twice
And Then There Was X : okay follow up
Venni Vetti Vicci : wack
Nastradamus (wild underrated) : wack

Not to mention joints many regard as classics like 400 Degreez and Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

yes, 98 and 99 were weak.....
lauryn hill is rnb, bait and switch...

rap suffered a decline in quality albums in 1996.
that has continued consistently since then, and never properly recovered.

sounds crazy till you actually objectively listen.

art barr

It sounds crazy and I do already objectively listen. I understand if people feel like meek is one dimensional and kinda bland lyrically but the migos are 100x's more repetitive and weak lyrically. A lot of the migo's bars are not just not real but they are not even realistic and not nowhere near clever enough to make up for the fact. Their hooks are very cliche and predictable. At lest meek has some good flows, bars, meaningful tracks and a lot of what he lacks he makes up for it in charisma, migos are just subpar one trick ponies.

Yea Art we're just gonna have to agree to disagree

96 made some of the greatest albums ever

Makaveli, All Eyez On Me, and It Was Written was enough for 96 to be anything but a decline in hip hop

BTW since we're on the topic of Meek Mill I'm just gonna go ahead and post this cause this might have been my favorite jam of the year and NOBODY was talkin about this shyt.

Not tryna make a case for Meek's lyrical ability cause otherwise I woulda used a different song but this track is just ridiculous. That's one of the hardest beats in a LONG time.

But if we ARE talkin about Meek then come on you older cats gotta cut the kid some credit. I wasn't feelin him when I first heard him either but eventually his energy won me over. And when you actually delve into his shyt and get a taste for him you could see the kid is really talented. nikkas flow is like a punch in the face.

Everytime I hear the lil nikka I come away liking him less

His shyt is so basic fam. "Shorty blessed me like I said achoo. Like a nikka sneezed" The line wasnt that tough Meek, u didnt have to explain it, it was just wack

W/e though to each their own

Everybody always telling me I need to listen to Meek, I cant get into him nothing stands out about his music

there isn't shyt to dude's music.
young nikkaz like him.
all because they like bigg'n up the rapper who sucks at rapping like they do.
they don't want shine or light to come to a higher skilled artist.
as, they feel it will place their dream of being a starlet further out of their grasp.
they aren't fooling anyone with that shyt.
they never talk about skills or culture.
all because they subscribe to the same toy shyt.
then, want to navigate above being g checked.
when, they release their same unskilled bullshyt.
they want the same pass, extend to the wack nikkaz for them.
wack nikkaz don't like the culture because it exposes their lack of skill.
plus, brings to light their revenue grab intentions.
which, continually shows they really are not about shyt.

Meek Mill is one of the few street mainstream rappers who can actually spit

dude has probably hours of footage on youtube of him freestyling on dvds, battling cats on the street, freestyling with lil snupe, at radio stations, etc..if you say hes trash you just hatin

who cares,..
the hours of footage of him spitting is all bullshyt wack offkey rhymes.
that are inferior to real actual skilled emcees.
saturation method artist all do the same bulk release of garbage playbook.
it does not fool anyone.
plus, it does not draw.
as they eliminate their draw.
from the self-exposal, of them being deficient in skill.
plus, they are culturally deficient on top of a huge lack of skill.

dude is not spitting,..he yells offkey wack two syllable at best rhymes with no cadence, or content.
he is just where he is because of how many points he gives up, contractually.
which makes him more profitable for a label to spend payola on.
that is not a skill in rap.
that is a lack of education on the administrative side.

which all labels reward by padding their pockets.
based off a horrific deal, signed by said wack artist.

shyt is the puma/newport sweat deal of the year 2000

ive dapped both sides but............

what about all the old nikkaz that like him? especially the ones that have been listening to him for like 5-7 years since way back?

what about the all the young nikkaz that like him that rap and are much more "technically sound"?

and lets be reality. most of these "of-the-culture" rappers get ignored because they make terrible music. and they will continue to get ignored until they address that issue instead of trying to brush it off with excuses for why people dont like their chore music.
