Let's be honest about what the NBA's biggest problem is now. Zion Williamson and Ja Morant failed to step into roles the league was preparing them for

Lions and the Pistons should be the poster child for this .

One team ain’t won shyt but have unwavering loyalty and will forever .

Pistons have 3 titles,5 finals appearances and don’t get half the loyalty

Shai “boring “ so the thunder don’t get prime time games even though they one of the best teams in the league

It’s sss-backwards and it’s the NBA’s fault
This can't be the case in the NBA though with an 82 game season and divisions being meaningless, and as for the bolded shouldn't that be on the fans? Unless you are asking the league for the Pistons to be put on national tv more? The NFL has an 18 week season, of course the games are gonna matter more, even if the Lions went 0 for on the season atleast you can hope on winning one of the division rival games. In an 82 game season its gonna be hard to hold people's attention who don't really care for basketball like that if the team is garbage, that's just what it is.

Imagine if Mike got hurt or didnt pan out or wanted to be Ice-T? Whats the 90s? People's whole perspective on that decade and the ball played in it is different. NBA might be NHL status right now.

Speaking of NHL, they've got their own problems but no real noise to go along with it.

At large America loves violence or their sports being somewhat physical :dame:soccer is too slow scoring wise and not that physical to us (I know it is physical, but for Americans it’s kind of tame). People like tennis, but America doesn’t stop for a tennis game. People like hockey but people don’t really grow up playing it, so we usually aren’t as familiar with the game despite it being physical. And not enough diversity . Baseball is integrated in American culture and americas favorite past time to where people in a sense will always watch. We have baseball fields at our schools or rec centers and we are familiar with it more because our grandads always watched it and a lot of us grow up playing it (I fukk with baseball, that wasn’t a diss or calling it boring) so it doesn’t have to be physical because we like the ooh awe moments of balls being hit out the park :dame:or amazing catches and athleticism .

Americas favorite sports outside baseball is violent. Football is number #1. Boxing only isn’t as popular, because it’s not assessable like it used to be to the casual viewer. Matches used to be broadcast to where you could turn on the tv and see Muhammad Ali or a main event fight. Now it’s just pricey and a regular kid can’t afford $80 to see a canelo or Terrance Crawford fight. Granted kids don’t even know how to box so they just resort to shooting instead of squaring up.

Adam silver dumb ass keeps comparing basketball to other sports assuming the viewer just wants action and flash and high scoring without care of fundamentals and the physical aspects of the game. When you watch the older games with the hand checking, it just looks a lot more intense and good defense can often be just as exciting. Seeing Ant Man lock up on Tatum is fun to watch. Swing Bron come out of nowhere to block a shot is many times even more exciting than a dunk.

Basketball is beautiful because it had atleast some physical and athletic aspects (like the nfl), and the pure fundamentals and finesse of a game like baseball. Like a hybrid in a way. We like some type of physical altercation in a sense and like fundamentals. I respect Ant Man shooting 3s. But that shyt is not as exciting to watch as him pulling up midrange or driving in the paint. Outside of Curry, Klay, and maybe Dame, I’m not trying to see mother fukkers just dribbling down the court and passing once for a wild 3 attempt. No one gave a fukk about Kobe shooting a 3. We liked him locking down on a defender and displaying his high basketball IQ and his athleticism.

Adam Silver destroyed the game. All he needs to do is bring back hand checking and all them 3 pointers gonna die down a little and the pressure will create more and better ball movement and showcase more athletic ability with players having to do more to get past they man :dame:but he over thinks and thinks about shyt out of left field like this all star game shyt to where everybody is scratching their heads. I mean what’s next? Every game a fan is picked to play a couple plays with the home team. Yeah that will make fans more engaged :troll:

This is the real issue. The 3 point thing can be fixed (and help ratings significantly) but the truth is there is no face of the league. Anthony Edwards is more early Damian Lillard or Clyde Drexler or Mitch Richmond or Carmelo than a top guy.

I might have to agree. Also with college football playoffs becoming huge there’s just way too much competition in the fall/early winter. NFL, college football, World Series. I really don’t even care to pay attention to the nba right now
people who complain about the competition don't realize that you don't have to make a choice. You just think you do. College hoops and pros? Yeah you have to prioritize, but it's fairly easy to navigate

Now imagine if Joker played in New York, Gianni's was in LA....

Yea Boston has a winning history but the actual city of Boston isn't on anyone's media radar like that

The chase for parity hurt the league's promotion more than anything, Silver folded to the small market teams whining and it ended up deflating the rest of the league.

You gotta let some of these big franchises be the villains of the league

NFL is immune because almost every game counts and is played on a weekend, it’s like a relaxation holiday. Outside of streaming affecting ratings no one is mentioning that it might just be a culture shift and people don’t care as much anymore. I guarantee replacing half the 3 pointers with midrange shots will not increase ratings one bit.

So the NBA sucks because they were supposed to push certain players to the fans and media and the players failed to live up to it.

But for years I've read online that the NBA sucks because they pushed LeBron to the fans and media and Lebron actually lived up to it.

This is true but this started before then. But this started way before them. Many won't agree but the NBA was setting up Kyrie years ago to be that face of the league years ago. With the sexy game and the Uncle Drew commercials (don't forget the movie) along with the having the best kicks out of the newer generation he was supposed to be THAT dude. But once he went flat earth theory it's been all downhill from there.
