Let's be honest, if you can't find a job right now, you don't actually want one

If you want $18+, go sign up for a Target warehouse before they hit peak season. That's weekend shifts (+$2 differential) and nights (+$2 differential). You work 3 days and get 4 days off before peak season hits and you get mandatory overtime. And they don't drug test unless you fukk up big time on the job, if that's a point of concern for you.

I could live of 13 an hour if absolutely necessary
How? If you had to guesstimate, how would you do it?

Yeah, I thought about it right after posting, it's doable. I'm a pretty frugal person, just by nature because any hobbies I have are buy once and keep for years and I'm in a low cost of living state, so I can see it easily being doable once I worked the possible numbers. Of course, I can see how that wouldn't be possible for others, but I was coming into your post plugging in inherently expensive variables and your situation was an absolute must situation that pertained solely to you.

You must live in Alabama or something. 13 dollars an hour won’t even get you a one bedroom apartment in a lot of cities.

It depends on where you live.
When I was younger I lived off about 14/hr for a couple years. Had a one bedroom apartment (about $450/mo) and a used car, but I was getting by. :yeshrug:

Obviously if you're somewhere like LA with insane rent it's different.

Still though, jobs that paid like $9hr a couple years are begging people to come in for 13hr. It's just kind of crazy if you remember the last recession.

:patrice: Are you sure about that?
Cause it seems like these jobs are hiring everybody except black men.
All these jobs are supposedly hiring, yet when I go downtown in any major Metropolis in America all I see is able bodied black men unemployed and struggling.
:wow:

This doesn't seem doable in 2022.
Especially with these rents on average coming up to $1800 on average for a one bedroom.

In 2002...yes. this is doable.
But in 2022, no.
Maybe if you live in Youngstown OH or something.

It's easy to get a retail/fast food job because it doesn't require much skills.

It takes more effort to get a top tier career regarding healthcare, technology, marketing, government assistance, economics, real estate because it requires both hard skills and soft skills

Location plays a role. In NYC, the job market is highly competitive. Networking is best when looking for a career job of your choice. Linkedin is recommended also attending networking events.

Ever since the great exodus of 2020, most people are fed with jobs that overworked them with little compensation.
